checked coolant and other consumables level after VP's post. everything is within the normal limits.

My car scraped a couple of mountain like speed breakers yesterday when i went for a drive even when i drove at a very low speed. Sneaked under the car and had a look at the underchassis. the rubber paint had gone and peeled off in a couple of places. planning to redo it when it is time for inspection in another 3 months

It's almost a week now, did you get a chance to check out if the sill plates are available yet? If so, please mention the price of and also of any other accessories as well. Thanx.

I have also recently bought a linea and apart from the fact that it is one of the most good looking cars and is totally loaded and also gives a decent mileage which I have not checked in a proper manner but in comparison to my earlier ride a fiat palio petrol 1.2 this is any day better, but coming to the point of the underbody touching my car regularly scrapes on speed breakers as such the mud flaps have to scrape any ways so any one new in the car thinks its the under body making noise but in actual fact its the mud flaps, however when i go over a speed breaker I have to be pretty cautious, especially when the car is fully occupied.

I have hear that the Lineas abroad come with larger size rims then what we have I believe a larger rim should solve the problem, or the next option would be to go for higher profile tyres, any body help on this matter?

Dear rabinder, You are right, the Lineas abroad have larger size wheels like 16" & 17", but this doesnt bring about any difference in the car height because when the wheel size is increased the tyre thickness is reduced.
You can notice from the pictures below, one is 15" and the tyre thickness is more compared to the 17" where the thickness is much less. I hope it is clear to you now.

Hi Rabinder,

Good decision on buying the Linea.

I used to drive a Ford Escort before buying the Linea. When comparing the driving position, especially the position of the steering and pedals, I feel the Ford is better designed than the Linea. Also the front seats of the Ford hugs the body giving more confidence to maneuver quickly around traffic (not implying that the Escort is fast). It also gives me around 20+km/L(diesel) without AC, not that Linea has bad mileage. Everything else, Linea is better. Above are strictly my views though .

Here is how I tackle over sized speed breakers, approach the bump at an angle so that the left front wheel runs over it first then the right front wheel. By doing so, the effective wheel base with respect to the speed breaker gets reduced. Hence by the time the bump surface gets close to the underbody, the rear left wheel will get over the bump. Of course you can do this only if the traffic allows. In case of uneven roads, I try to keep the front wheels on higher grounds to avoid under body scrapping. Just my 2 ps on this.

Coming to oversized rims, if you closely look at the rim selection page in Linea international website, even though the rim diameter changes, the overall diameter of the wheel (i.e. diameter of the rim + width of the tyre side wall) remains the same. So we might have to use low profile tyres with bigger rims, which as some of the members suggested are not suited for Indian roads due to obvious reasons. Experts please correct if I am wrong.

Thank You all for your inputs.

Guys Thanks for the inputs from your experiences, will try and make use of your views however. My basic point is since the under body is scraping I had even had a talk with my local Tyre guy and he also told me that the company tyres are not that good Mine came with good year which he said are not that good and wuite a few people have complained for tyre problems I asked him if we could change the tyres as I am facing the problem of under body touching if I dont drive carefully he said you can put a higher profile tyre with a height increase of around 10 m.m. on the diameter of the tyre.

For me the dilemna is that since the tyres are of good year I would not get a good exchange value hence I would have to shell out a bomb to exchange, so considering the cost and also the fact the the car would rise by 10 m.m. will the handling of the car change because of the rise in height increase.

So basically is it worth changing to higher profile tyres putting the cost factor aside because I am planning on travelling quite a bit with the car and till now its a regular thing for the cars under body to scrape which apart from the annoyance factor I would not like to see any damage on the under body.

Kindly advise.

I while driving yesterday somewhat found that the engine noise has increased a bit now. Never had my car had a similar roar at 80kmph. seems something wrong!!

any ideas guys what to look at?

the wobbling wiper still exisit

Yesterday i saw a MJD linea in vadapalani with chrome exhaust, went and enquired to him about it. he said VST motors ( mount road) had given him the accessory when he got the car..

do you guys know whether fiat has sourced any accessory (OEM)?

I had a similar experience in my OHC and the culprit was a leak in exhaust. The exhaust pipe under the body cracked due to frequent scraping on speed breakers.

I am finally back !!. Had been hectic work which had kept me away.

The car has now crossed 8000km. It looks as good as new.

Took the car for complimentary wash interior clean and wax polishing which was given by TASS.

Only issue still there is the seat issue. have not got a word about it from TASS even after me giving them umpteen reminders.

A small tik tik sound is coming from right front window pane very very faint!!.

A faint scratch near the left front bumper under the foglight happened due to a reckless driving by a motorist.

Couldnt wax and wash the car last sunday due to sheer laziness.

May be this sunday i will surely have to caress my linea a bit more!!
