"Elate" in Estonian simply means "Live"!

Re: Launched : Maruti Suzuki Ritz ELATE : Limited edition !

Folks! There is nothing to be Elated about this "Limited Edition" of Ritz. I visited Vipul Motors Noida in Sector 18 just now to get a view on this. So, as it is always the same case, even this car is just loaded with some accessories that's all. By tomorrow a model will reach to the dealership so I will speak to my uncle and get some pics of the car.

Here are a few pics taken at the dealership:

Also, Be ready for a 'Limited Edition' Ertiga. It is believed that Ertiga's Vxi and Vdi variant shall be launched as limited edition soon with some minor upgrades like Alloy Wheels, Chrome inserts and some interior face-lift.

Thanks.

Couldn't agree more with you JayD

This probably does not even deserve to be mentioned on forums like TBHP. On the contrary, we should probably have a seperate thread for Maruti 'Limited Edition' launches, something like:

MARUTI's LIMITED INVENTIONS

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

Body graphics reminds me of what happens when we wash a white T-shirt along with a red one that donates some of its colour. It looks like some red color came off the brake light and got absorbed on the rear panel.

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

Ritz anyway sells around 3,000 units per month; wonder why Maruti decided to launch this hideous ELATE special edition.

I seriously doubt it would improve Ritz sales. They might as well call it the TOOLATE instead.

Seeing the make-up done to the Ritz, I am just NOT Elate'd. Don't know what maruti was thinking when they were wanting to launch such a variant.

There was another variant named "Genus" that was sensible at least (had the stock Z variant HU, rear wash and wipe). This one is just

User friendly bluetooth system - Are the rest provided Not so user friendly?!

Just to keep the car floating in the market and for people to not forget that the Ritz exists.

What if the 'E' in the Elate drops down?

I thought the best "feature" was the "- Joyful ambient lights" - does the stock Ritz have "sad" ambient lights? What on earth is a "joyful" light anyway?

You must jump around with joy the moment the lights come on.

Who on earth comes up with the names and titles for these variants!

Ritz, IIRC sells around 4-4.5K a month.

Now it has dropped in the range of 2.5-4k copies per month. It pains to see such a capable car doing such dismal numbers ( by Maruti's standards ). No amount of Limited edition contraptions are going to work. What Ritz needed from day one was a Rear lift, which could have made it more palatable.

Not possible buddy. I don't think Maruti would take such steps and I don't think it is affecting them in any way.

The car is selling between 2-3K units a month. Why would Maruti want to loose that money?

Phasing this version out, may be for an upgrade / refresh?! Stock clearance sale types. Do you mean this?

Well it may not be the case as of now. See in today's scenario a well packaged car can survive for 7-8 years. In the case of Ritz, people were not very fond of it's look ever since it's launch all thanks to it's banged hatch design.

The selling features because of which this car has survived till now is the brand name of Maruti and the Diesel variant.

But, today the hatch back segment is getting really tough on competition with new entrants like Brio, Liva and Maruti's own cars like Celerio etc which have been instrumental in changing the focus of the buyers in general. So, to remain afloat Maruti has tried this gimmick of Elate Ritz without even considering the fact that similar gimmick has proved fatal for their cars like Swift (RS).

Maruti is becoming insecure of the rising competition and sharp change in consumer's tastes so with limited vision they can't think of anything better than "Limited Edition".

One more aspect of coming up with this limited edition (read joke) is that Maruti is trying to finish up the inventory created. They and Honda are very much capable of this.

OT: Till date non of the Limited Editions have been successful in raising the car's demand. Many other brands too tried this gimmick and it proved suicidal for them.

Thanks.

That price list says it all! If you don't like the JVC audio, you are suffering a loss by buying this variant.

Now, I don't know many folks who would choose a JVC HU over other aftermarket options like Pioneer or Kenwood.
