Very easy buddy.

Remove the glove box and you'll find the AC Filter unit housing. Just open the door to gain access to filter. Pull it out and clean it (Ignore arrows in first image).

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

My Ritz VXI was serviced 5 months back, and it has run 6200 kms since the service.
Would it be safe to get it serviced after another 2000-3000 kms, or would it be risky? Of late, the service cost seems to be too high (more than 10k always) in MASS without any body work or major parts replacement.

Petrol version of Ritz has service interval of 10k/1 year whichever happens earlier. You should be fine with another 3k-4k on odometer before next service.

Regarding high prices, it will be worthwhile if you can share the previous bills for your car. Activities like engine decarbonisation etc. increase the bill and should be avoided.

I have a 1Lac+ run Ritz Vxi and average cost per 10k service is around INR 3500- 4200. Of course, I get the car serviced at my native place which falls in Tier C category of cities as per Maruti. So I do save on labour cost. I opt to do wheel alignment and balancing outside since its comparatively cheaper. Having said that, bills in excess of 10k even in Bangalore is still above par and you need to be sure that you only opt for service activities that are actually needed for it.

Ritz diesel too have service interval of 10k km or one year. But MASS used to cheat customers by mentioning preventive maintenance for every 5000 km which is nothing but merely a complete car wash and trye alignment check. It's pure waste of money and better to stick to 10k service interval.

Guys, i have a Ritz D which will complete 4 yrs in a couple of days. 65000 Kms of trouble free running. My Query is regarding the battery. It is still on stock Exide battery for 4 yrs and 65000 Kms now. Do i go ahead and proactively get the Battery changed or wait for it to die? It has not yet shown any signs of losing steam. Though MASS Battery Report has been telling to Replace Battery since 40K Kms Service. Dont know based on what. I might also go for a Car Upgrade sometime in late 2017.

I have got 100+ calls for this 5000 kms service but never have I gone. I asked them that Maruti says service interval is either 10k kms or 1 year then how can they call and ask the customer to come for a intermediate service. They replied saying it is a health checkup. I asked them to give it to me in writing that "Maruti has instructed you to call customers for this 5K kms service". Listening to this they have never called me again.

Onus lies in the hands of the owner too to check before going. Both are to be equally blamed as not many read the owners manual and the attached maintenance schedule. If one reads then it is basic thought that the dealer is plainly looting.

Is the cranking time high?

If it is starting normally, then wait for it to die.

Check the voltage using a multimeter. You'll get to know the left life it has.

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

I forgot to add that blower cleaning which was deemed necessary after seeing the clogged cabin filter, MASS also did intercooler cleaning (Rs1300) which added up to the bill. I see that some slight improvement in performance and definitely in fuel efficiency. These people tend to overfill and that may have clogged the intercooler.

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

Off late, I can see that my Ritz VXI is not able to prevent outside smell from reaching the cabin (especially noticeable when driving next to lake and muddy roads in Bangalore). What can be the issue here?

See if the vent that opens and closes when circulation/fresh air mode is chosen. It may not be closing fully hence allowing outside air to enter into the cabin.

IIRC, it is cable operated right? See if the cable is working well or no.

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

With a heavy heart I bid good bye to my faithful Warrior Maruti Ritz after almost 7 + years of trouble free ownership. Time to Hunt for an able replacement and perhaps an upgrade too.

Guys, i am seeing this Warning Light since yesterday even while Driving. The Cabin light also stays ON even in the middle position. And the Car is not responding to the Central Locking Buttons of the Key. Have to Lock & Unlock manually. Can anyone let me know what this Symbol means and what is the problem? For some reason, i am getting a permission error when trying to add attachment from my fone. It is the bottom 1st warning sign on yhe left side on Ritz Instrument Cluster.

This seems to be the problem (Problem No.4), as per your description, and the Owner's Manual. One of the door lock switches seems to have malfunctioned - hence causing the cabin light to stay ON, and the remote NOT to work. Get it checked at M.A.S.S.?

On all doors where the striker is located, there is a switch that gives the sensing whether door is open or not.

Check if any of the 4 are jammed or not?!

Also if the door lock actuators are moving freely or not.

Thanks Viju for the Diagrams. It is the bottom most sign to the left of number 7 in the instrument cluster pics u have posted. It is not the Car Door Open Symbol. Thank you.

Looking closely, that might be the door open sign. I am not sure though.

Will check these. Thanks Anurag.

Re: Maruti Ritz : Test Drive & Review

My Ritz makes this thud-thud noise, when driving over rough roads.
It's on the driver side, could be either a loose part in the engine bay/suspension or steering rack.

Has anyone faced something similar? If yes, how did you resolve it?
Have clocked 60K so far.
