check end stabilizer rod; that could be a possible failure causing thud thud noise.
I replaced it in my Ritz around 45K km

I have my thoughts on the following:

1. Caliper pin located inside the caliper assembly had worn off and now there is a gap created where the caliper assembly is moving when going over bad roads. Get the wheel removed and try to move the caliper with your hand. If there is a play get it that sorted.

2. Suspension bushes could have gone weak. Change the strut bushes as well as the ones in anti roll bar aka stabilizer bar.

Both the points are solvable at a cheaper rate. Is advise you to go to an FNG as your car would get better attention.

I had this issue in my Swift too. Under precautionary measure I replaced all bushes but the sound persisted. After that I got the caliper pin issue sorted by welding metal over it and get it turned (on the Lathe) to the right specification. Post that the sound disappeared.

Last weekend was rather a mix of both good and bad. But it turned out to be really good after everything was sorted out.

Quoting Karan and Parag for their expert advise on Tyre Replacement and Clutch related queries.

So, On saturday I got all the 4 tyres replaced. Based on Karan's suggestion I went for 195/60 R15 Continental MC5. As I had already experienced Michelin P3ST's on my Ertiga, I wanted to try Continental.

So, post Wheel balancing and alignment, we were enjoying the plush drive via Mount road and Mount Poonamallee road.

Now this is where something terrible happened. I was about to take a U-turn after DLF IT Park when the first gear refused to slot

I tried whatever I could, but the lever simply didn't budge. My dad and son got pretty nervous as there were close to 10-15 cars behind us honking to glory. I switched on the Warning lights and asked the cars behind us to take reverse.

Then, I switched off the ignition, tried engaging the first gear and then switched on the ignition with both clutch and brakes pressed. The car literally leaped like a horse and stalled again. We were in the middle of the road now. Tried the same procedure and managed to park the vehicle near an IOC bunk and made a quick call to my SA at MSM Chennai. He said that the vehicle definitely needs to be towed to get the issue diagnosed.

So, after half an hour MSM sent a Maruti Eeco to tow my vehicle. So, after 5 years, it was a really painful to see my 'Grey cow' (yes that's how my son calls our Ritz) being towed.

Around 5 pm, my SA tells me that the entire clutch assembly and other related parts might have to be replaced and he will let me know by Sunday afternoon.

Then, I managed to reach out to Parag Bhai. Inspite of he not keeping good health, he managed to clarify all my doubts and confirmed that the Clutch assembly is indeed the culprit.

So, yesterday around noon my SA calls me and tells that the vehicle would be ready by 4pm and the bill would be close to 9K as Parag told me

I took her for a spin yesterday and Boy the car literally flies. The clutch is so smooth and it feels like driving a petrol engine

Even i got the clutch plates changed for my car recently at 60k kms and along with the service the bill came to ~ 12k(including engine oil change, brake liner replacement and spark plugs).
The driving experience has totally changed after the clutch replacement.However once in a while in heavy traffic, when launching from 1st gear with AC On i get some vibrations. It doesn't happen regularly but I am still thinking of going back to the service centre and getting it looked into.Problem would be to replicate the scenario

Also, got the wheel caps changed to the Dzire(83 P 10) ones and i feel they look good. The older ones had lots of scratches. Costed me 1940 rupees

Clutch work alone was around 6.5k including labor.

Did 60K service for my Ritz Vdi at Maijo Moto Kalamassey,Kerala. Total cost came to 9500 which included brake pad and a link rod change on top of normal 60K service. Engine oil used is 5W30 and I opted not to have wheel alignment done from MASS . Maijo Moto's have recently started their operation in Cochin and I am fully satisfied with the kind of service provided by them.

A/C Issue in Ritz VDi ABS (at 47K kms)

There was a faint/pungent odour from the A/C vents since Saturday evening.

I tried keeping the A/C switched on in Re-circulation mode, but the smell was still strong.

So, dropped the car yesterday at MSM.

It looks like the A/C Evaporator coil and related parts conked off

They estimate the total bill amount to be 9K

Last month I had replaced all the 4 tyres and clutch assembly!

What all parts are included in the 9K estimate?

Before committing the car for repair, get a quote for the repair job and if required get a second and third opinion from another MASS or any known A/C specialist in your city just to be sure off.

They have replaced the below parts:

a) A/C Cooling Coil
b) Hose
c) Related Oil
d) A/C Gas

Please let me know if this sounds reasonable. Also, the SA said there would be faint oil smell for couple of days.

Anurag - I will post the bill in the evening. I replaced the cabin air filter last November.

I was really being troubled by all the High beam users coming from behind due to the glare coming in from my ORVM glass which had a lot of swirls & scratches due to the Bahadur cleaning side-effects.
Called up and confirmed for the spare availability at SmartCars, Kaggadaspura, Bangalore and got both the glasses replaced with new ones.Hardly took ten minutes.
Night driving is much much better now

The glass costed me 215/- a piece, a total of 430/--- no labour was charged for the replacement.
There was also a rrrrrr sound coming from the IRVM while crawling at low speeds which was fixed by just tightening the nut.
I feel such small fixes makes a sea change in your driving experience and keeps your interest alive in the vehicle

Also wanted to know how much of a difference will a Day/Night ORVM(the one that comes with a flip switch) will make during night driving. I have a regular IRVM glass which came with my Ritz VXi Genus. The day/Night IRVM costs around 500 rupees and I am thinking to get my IRVM replaced as well.

I drive just 9 kms to home from office at around 8 PM but this 8 KM takes around 50 minutes due to the peak hour traffic and 6 kms out of this is on single lane roads.The high beam is pure torture to the eyes.

Also, the heavy traffic is badly affecting my mileage, has come down to ~11 from the regular ~13.5 i used to get when driving on ORR Roads. A new clutch plate has not helped things at all on the mileage front. However, i must say it has made driving much less of a stress due to the smooth action.

I have a Ritz ZDi and believe me, the day and night IRVM is a blessing. I usually drive at night and on the highways, with folks coming in from the rear with their headlights on, this helps a lot. Don't expect the same level of visibility that you get on the day mode however it is quite manageable. Let's put it this way, if it is dark outside and the car behind you, has not turned on their headlights, then you may not be able to spot the car.

It will make a huge difference. I recently got the same even for my Alto which does not see trips bigger than 3km and 15 minutes.

Spent Rs.700 as the one in Alto comes with the cabin lamp (unlike the one on the Ritz). But it was worth it a 1000 times over.

Earlier I had got one for the A Star too. Same model (from the previous generation Wagon R Vxi with the F10 engine)
