My new Tata Safari GX - Cycus Grey + Artic Silver

Was stuck in office today and so could not take delivery , but dad did and so my Tata Sarari GX (Cycus Green + Artic Silver) 4x2 is finally home

Took a couple of pics when I got back home and rushed to upload them, but apparently "My user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page", so i guess the pics will have to wait.

Well I am off to take her for a spin, will read why I don't have the privileges when I get back and see if I can do something to correct it, I guess the pics will have to wait till then.

Congratulations Umang! Its lovely to know you bought a car that so many dream to buy. Can you post the reasons of your choice, the alternates that you must have tried etc. Pardon me if you did, but I did not see such a thread.

Regarding the pictures, its because you are a 'newbie' , as in a member with too few posts and thus there are restrictions. Once you participate more on this forum you will be allowed to post pictures. If you go through the rules , you should find more details.

Congrats!

And.... "pictures in all angles" eh!!!

Maybe you can send the pics to one of the mods and they can upload them to your post.... maybe...

Okay, just got back from my test drive and here are my thoughts

1. The position of the ignition is a little odd and will take some getting used to. I had to literally bend down to check how the key was to be inserted.
2. At low speeds the suspension seems to be a little soft compared to the BMW 320d and the Indigo (the other 2 cars that we have)
3. At higher speeds (relatively, I'm still worried about the run-in period) the Safari seems well planted and is surprisingly steady when while weaving around.
4. The larger turning radius will also take a little while getting used to. Have to make a conscious effort to go a little wider before turning.
5. Today I felt that people seem to be moving out of the way a little quicker than normal. I have already begun to love this.
6. Since it was pretty late, I have not fiddled around with the interiors, but i need to read up on the Alpine music system, could not figure how to turn it off, without turning off the ignition that is.

And yeah
Guess next time I should read the announcement / instructions before posting
Finally figured out how to add pics to my post. So here they are. Sorry about the quality but they were taken late in the evening (except the puja pic), but I promise more and better pics tomorrow, yeah from different angles as well.

Till then here are the few taken today.

if its an alpine 9870 ( the plain mp3 cd one) keep the 'source' button pressed until it turns off ( it is one of the 4 big blue buttons)

Did not realize team-bhp had international members. So Takumi-san: if I may - your name is japanese and you seem to reside in Australia, how's the indian connection then? Do not mean to be rude, but just curious.

Also, always wondered what the "-san" (appended to the name) means. Is it like "mr." or "sir"? Have been attending conference calls lately with some teams in Japan, and in the calls we address them with their names plus the word san. Never got a chance to ask them what it meant, so posting my question here.

Hey Umang Congrats again.
Was eagerly waiting for the pics ( haven't seen many gx variants on road)
It looks quite handsome and somehow a safari brings a smile on my face always. ( "beautiful" is not the term for a safari)
The ORVM indicators look very good and i think they should be made available in all the variants.
Initially i had my doubts over the colour combination but once i saw the pics i liked what i saw. Its good to be different in this era of Pearl whites.

Well san is like "Ji" in HIndi so Takuma san means Takuma"Ji"

Good looking truck there! Congrats.
Edit: The radically designed spare wheel cover is a little tilted, you might want to get it corrected.
