A new sport in my house: The i10 Kappa Sportz. Pics added.

Prologue: My old warhorse The Opel Sail 1.4 had completed 4 years of service on the 12th of this month & completed a good 55000 kms. Dad, was suddenly interested in a new car. The car hunting began.

Chapter 1: Maruti Suzuki A-Star: Went to Magic Auto, Dwarka to check out the car in flesh. Dad, liked the exteriors & had his mind set on the VXi. OTR Price: Rs. 3.9 Lakhs. But after the test drive, the kick wasn't there in the car. The interiors sucked big time(No offences but being an Aveo owner can't help). So, A-Star got no stars from the family.

Chapter 2: Chevy Spark: My Chevy dealer came to know about my car hunting & he came running in with a proposal for his Chevy Spark(Muzik or LT). The car though slick but wasn't much appealing due to present GM situation & resale value. Today, he brought an amazing deal. LT@ Rs. 3.45 Lakh + a Sony 2-din music system with 4 speakers(as in Muzik edition). But, the Chevy wasn't going to enter my garage again.

Chapter 3:Maruti Ritz: When testing the A-Star, the dealer had got a Ritz too 3 days before launch. He showed us the car & we were like, now that is good. Cool exteriors & decent interiors & after the test drive we were like we have found our car. But, the Maruti soap opera of waiting & prior booking wasn't bearable to us. We denied the dealer & today he called to say that he has 2 VXis of the color we were looking for. But, I guess its too late.

Final Chapter:Hyundai i10: Dad, never wanted to go for the i10 as we used to see a lot of i10s on Delhi roads. But, I convinced him to take a test drive. Test Drove a Magna & dad was like its good. The car was shown to the whole family & everyone agreed to the car's looks. Now, Dad wanted the Sportz version as he is not interested in getting a music system done from outside. Another setback of 40k.

Called a few dealers & finalized with MGF Hyundai.

Ex-Showroom: Rs. 4.21L
OTR(Delhi): Rs. 4.61L
Less:Insurance: Rs. 11K
OTR: Rs. 4.50L

Thanks Rjeevan, Will take the proposal of leather steering cover tomorrow. Thanx for the FE figures as I have convinced dad that it will give around the same average as Ritz(I personally don't like the car much).

Will surely post the pics ASAP!

Thnx again

Congrats on your purchase. Do change your footwear ASAP, the OEM rubbers are skinny and no good. If you decide to do it, do it soon so that you get best buyback price on them.

Congratulations Varun.ppl!!

You have made the right choice

By the way, my i10 Kappa Sportz gives me around 12-13 Kmpl in the city with 100% AC.

And it gives between 16 and 17 Kmpl in the Highway with 100% AC.

Just in case you think of Rubber change, most TBHPians recommend 175/70/R13. Michelin XM1 is the preferred Brand.

Thanks @ FanaticOnWheels, anilkalvani, driving_smartly, prince_pervez, subbusos, iPai & all other Team-Bhpians

Got the delivery today. Reached showroom on dot 3. The car had been washed & polished. Still to be sunfilmed. So, the process began till then made a couple(make that 15) rounds around my new buy. I seemed to be getting attracted more & more.

Was finished with everything. Reached home just know.

Some issues I would like to clarify. Please help:

While driving @ 25kmph when i put the 3rd gear, it went in well but as the speed approached 30 there was a pretty good level of vibration. Same with 4th gear@ 40 kmph. Is this normal or some major problem. But there was no vibrations while driving at 20 in 4th gear.

Secondly, when i pressed the clutch fully(i.e. my heel was on the clutch while front part of the foot was ahead of clutch pedal) & when i was turning the steering, i could feel the steering rod rotating against my feet. I asked the sales person & he said it was normal. I was suspicious & i demanded to check another car & the same was the case. I m confused!

Anyways, Let some pics do the talking.
1. Car at 3 pm before the Sunfilm
2. My family(except me) with the sales executive(He was good & courteous)
3. My complete family with our new possession
4. Initial Odo reading
5. The Car ready to go
6. Interior Pic 1
7. The Audio System

Will post more pics soon!

Nice choice of color. Personally, I like this color for the Accent as well. A red i10 will do any time. Enjoy

Congrats on your new car! Try to get a pair of aftermarket fog lamps. I fitted a pair for mine from the dealer and he charged me 6000 bucks.

Also, try to get a remote lock system that has separate buttons for lock and unlock. Mine, the Hyundai original one has the same button for lock and unlock. Trust me, it is big trobule with lot of accidental presses in my pocket.

thanks anekho, OT: Looks like Haydos is your lucky charm!

@prince_pervez: thanks. Yup, i saw a whole lot of Red i10s at the showroom & a couple of them were also going to be delivered on the same day. Red is a great color but family has some superstitions against Red & Black.

@cvvikram: Thanks a ton man. Ya, i hope to keep her for a long time!

@para: Well some mods are definitely on my mind.
A pair of bumper lamps(fog lamps)
Philips Blue Vision(60/55V): Dealer quoted my 1000 bucks for a pair(I think its good enough deal).
Footings(if dad has cash left)
No alloys as of now, i somehow like the wheel caps

Dad is never in favor of Remote locking. Lets see i will try & convince him!

Thanx a ton for your advices.

PS: Of the two issues I mentioned in the last post, one is resolved i.e. the foot hitting the steering rod. Actually i had adjusted the seat too closely & my knee angle was such that it seemed to go out of bounds. So, that is solved.

But, i still have to figure out why there is vibration when driven at 30kmph in 3rd & 40kmph in 4th gears respectively.

Suggestions & advices are welcomed!
