yes, suspension is very bad, on bad roads, you feel like sitting on a plank moving over stones without wheels (little exaggeration :))
I think it is ok - bearable. This has crossover genes, and is meant to handle bad roads - so hard suspension is fine. There are many other choices in the market - if one wants softer suspension, one can always go other cars. However, I doubt that some other sedans could have handled the roads I travelled on recently with the SX4's aplomb.
Seat issues fixed after 3rd visit to Pratham. Completed 2300 km in 1 month. Another road trip planned around Sep 18th.
Have put Philips X-treme Power bulbs, but don't see much of an improvement.

Its Good that you didn't get duped into using the fully synthetic engine oil. I was & am feeling quite stupid:. Since I cannot have it changed or replaced, until the next service due to the high sticker price of Rs: 4622.48/- (Including taxes)
For the suspension I feel that
If it would not have been so hard, then the straight line stability & overall handling would have gone for a toss considering the height of the vehicle.

Planning V-kool for windscreen. Is it worth it? How much would it cost? |
The front windscreen film is a good Idea. Don't go in for the cheap ones as they are pretty useless. They only serve the purpose of tinting and do not reduce the amount of heat entering the cabin. Instead you should go in for branded sunfilm such as Llumar, VKool or 3M. With 75% visibility (transparent type) all around i.e. Front, Rear + Sides. I have Llumar: Total Cost 6K with 3 year warranty. Sides: 5% Visibility (Jet Black), Front Windshield: 75% Visibility (transparent type) & Rear Windshield: 75% Visibility (transparent type)

Do you think that a Swift type grill (present in SX4s sold abroad, and in the current GV 2.4L) would look better? See the black SX4 picture above
Other major look and feel change: fatter (225/55/R16) tyres. Wish I had the photo shop skills to figure out what combo would look best. |
Got the tires changed on Day 2 itself. From the stock JK's to Goodyear Eagle NCT 5's (SIZE: 225/55 R16)
I myself am looking for the Grill, with which the SX4 Sport Sedan is sold in the US. If anyone knows where to get/buy it from I would be highly obliged. The one I am looking for looks like this:

You could easily get a similar solution from Autopsyche in Delhi itself. Could work out cheaper too.

Thank you
Quick update:
4900 km done in less than two months. Getting 13+ on highways, and ~ 11 in the city. No issues till now except minor squeaks from the seats.
Mods done:
1. Karlsson black leather seats
2. X-treme Power headlamps (not much of a difference)
3. ICE replacement (added amp, subwoofer, replaced speakers - Boston S60 at the back, Infinity at the front; retained stock head unit)
Trips done: 6 (around the Nilgiris). Came back today from a trip to Masinagudi. Had an interesting encounter with a couple of wild tuskers. See the collage below:

Do post pictures of the install, where is the amp located and the price break-up of the ICE equipment?

Wow that's a lot of driving!
Yeah, me too interested in this info. Wanted to change in my car and was waiting for Vitamin M. How is the SQ after replacement compared stock speakers.
A good sensible choice of C Segment Sedan there, Niranjan
She's an all-rounder

The sound quality is FAR better after replacing the speakers, and putting in an amp + a subwoofer.
Amp is fixed vertically in the boot (left side), and subwoofer is also in the boot. Front speakers are Infinity Reference 6030 CS, and rear ones are coaxial Boston Acoustic S60. Amp and sub are from JBL. Total cost was ~ 18K. Evo/Sathya did the job; took much longer than expected, but the job was good. Am thinking of going back to adjust some of the settings - want a little more bass (the Infinity speakers have good clarity, but bright treble).
I have retained the stock HU. Might think of changing that at a later date.

Yes it is very hard indeed, all shock are passed to passenger in the car and one can feel every pot hole.
