Himanshu, he has taken delivery on 2nd May, so it is obviously older version.

Ok got it, but Tanveer the scenario is same everywhere specially with TATA dealers.

I had to come to GGN from Rohtak so many times just to get servicing of my Safari as the dealer in Rohtak is full of s***.

They are

Prerana Motors - They are supported by Tata and they did not have stock of 4 x 4.

Manipal Motors - Whom Tata is not supporting due to some internal issues and they can do good if they get support from Tata.

If the tyre contact is very solid, as on tarmac, the stress goes back into the driveline, and if you keep at it long enough, it breaks.
I wonder why Tata can't provide a Central Differential atleast as an option, is it an expensive-addon for a 11 Lac SUV or a design limitation in the existing model to incorporate the same.

Just TDed the car back from Concrde....

Am just back after TDing the vehicle that was given back from Concode.
The pending issues are as under:
1. Doors still need adjustment.
2. Driver door power window regulator needs to be changed. Has been ordered as per them but is not yet in stock.
3. Rear right power window switch erratic. Has been ordered should be here in a week's time.
4.Centre console has been ordered as it had corroded. Not in stock.

As soon as I got in and started the truck, Tejas told me that it seemed very "tight" as though the brakes were holding it. Checked the same and found that they had overtightened the handbrake as I had told them to tighten it (not over tighten it) during our visit. We then parked the car and asked the supervisor to get a mechanic right there. The mechanic arrived in around 20 mins and loosened the cable after which the truck was back to normal. Took a small drive and could not notice any issues so far in the rolling components of the truck.

In my view, apart from the small issues of the windows being slow, the centre console replacement and a couple of plastic stoppers missing, the truck seems to be okay now...Thank God...

The next step is to go on a medium distance trip in the car and then check it upon return. I m pretty sure it will go well.....

I would not recommend Manipal sales as a friend of mine had gone there to buy an Indicab and told me that he was very ill treated and ended up buying it at Prerana Motors. I too have gone there a couple of times but was not satisfied with their attitude.
I may be the unlucky one but this is what me and my friend have faced.

All the best! Having a defective(broken) chassis is a serious safety issue! Do not let them repair it, instead go for replacement! You never know what it was involved. Hope you find a quick resolution of these problems and start enjoying your car!

It would be an expensive redesign! If they provided that, they would also have to allow a locking option for the center diff, because when the going gets rough, you need to let both axles get their full share of drive, or the car can get stuck with just one wheel losing traction. More things that can then break down, having increased the opportunity for things to go wrong. And take the price to a different segment, where the current fit and finish would not allow sales to happen.

Just found out that the manufacturing date is Jan'09 on the VIN. Well is there anything that I can do about it? No! I have blasted the dealer and I am asking for a refund which too will not work! Now I understand why I was not given a PDI! I remember checking the RC Book but I didn't check the Date of Manufacture for some reason. I had just checked the VIN number and had matched it with the one under the hood.

On a positive note, I liked the feel of the truck and right now, I am OK with it. I need to go for a long drive to get the feel of the vehicle and see if it still gets issues. If it does then I might be required to sell it off! Knowing that many people would be watching this thread now, I am not sure if I can't get a good deal on it anymore :(.
I won't be going to Concorde once the other issues are fixed. I will probably go to Manipal or Prerna or will go to the local mechanics but not to Concorde Service anymore.

Dev i think so it could be one of a kind incident, but as far as i have seen them they are having a good team.

We got our Safari from them with good service & deals right from the begining of our purchase.

Till date we get our Safari serviced at their Hebbal Service Station and get good service.

Its been 1.5yrs since we are dealing with Manipal and not found any problem either in service or sales.

Has "Safari" become a mode to "Suffer"?

I love the way beast looks and also the way it drives but after having bought a brand new car...this suffering aint fair!

Tejas, hope the machine settles down now, but am sure its left a bad taste. it might take a while for you to trust it again...

When i had been to concorde to service my Adventure few months back ,looking at the Safaris there started to enquire about it thats when a technician asked me why do i want to own a "white elephant"

But

Does the chassis replacement reflect in the final invoice under warranty ?
If they have replaced it, it should reflect in the final invoice after closing the job card.
Could you post what was the cost of the Chassis?
