Raamki,

Is your Icecool shield keeping you cold and Fiesta keeping you hot. Also how is the visibility at nights.

BTW pls let me know the Icecool Shield number that you have stuck. Apparently I see a series of Icecool shields on their website and the place that I contacted in Chennai wanted 3150.

[quote=raamki;1456918]Details & Specs of the films:

Icecool Shield: Superior film developed for the front windscreen that has a VLT of 70% and rejects heat upto 50%. Top of the line product from Garware Suncontrol, comes with a 5 year warranty.

Attached is the spec of the HP Natural 20 that my door windows and the rear windshield sport.

buddy, i havnt driven her in the night yet (post installation of garware) to comment on the visibility factor, its been 2 weeks since i visited my parents, work's keeping us busy! Wifey & I stay in the other end of town closer to our workplaces!

Dad however has no complaints though!! tell you what, we're driving down to Vellore this weekend, will post my thoughts on what I feel about the visibility factor when am back!! :thumbs up Am actually super excited about making that trip, I'll be driving her after 2 looong weeks!!clap:

Btw, am not very sure about 3150. As far as I know, Garware's ICECOOL range has 3 products; Grand, Elite & Shield. What we have installed is Shield, there was no number as such written on the box as far as I can remember. Here is the link to the list of their products, look under the ICECOOL range:

Thanks for the reply, I will check with the distributor and have a nice trip to Vellore. I guess you are visiting the Golden temple, its sure worth a visit if you have not been there already.

Also one more question, do you have to remove the windshield to fix the film, from your photos it appears that is not required, but wanted to confirm the same.

.

@rajeshvin---I've driven on the higway for long distances and did not face any problem---generally it is pitch dark outside, and anyone behind you will have a headlight on. The glare of the headlignt will not bother you---even if it is from a Volvo bus behind you.
The only flip side is when you are reversing your car in pitch darkness---you gotta depend on the lower visibilty and on the wing mirrors, apart from the camera vision.

Let me answer the question for you. I've installed Garware IceCool in April, 2009. Apart from cooling the car faster and better, it also helps in reducing the glare from oncoming headlights---even the Xenons don't bother me. I have not found any visibilty issues.

Yep!! We are visiting the Golden Temple @ Sripuram indeed!! I've heard a lot about the temple already, looking forward to our trip, thanks to my mom!! :)

About the installation, the same procedure is followed for the front windshield as well, they will not need to remove it at all. It will take them a little more time to fit the film on the front as compared to the others as the glass requires to be heated from the outside before installing.

Yep, totally!! i could feel an instant difference driving back home after getting the sun films fixed!! The icecool shield has this very light greenish tint which makes driving very pleasurable in the hot sun!! Like i said before, you can feel the relief on your eyes for sure!!

And am am super glad to hear it keeps those headlight glares away!! :thumbs up IMO, I guess it's a must accessory to have!!

Vnabhi Sir and Raamki thanks for your reply. I will have the film installed this weekend. Hope the guys in Chennai are good at this

The drive to and from sripuram/vellore was awesome, the toll roads were super (the hosur-krishnagiri stretch being the best, very scenic as well, covered the 90 odd km distance in less than an hour, no complaints about the drive or the car either!! the max speed i touched was about 130kms (on a clear straight stretch), i zipped past a truck and in 3 seconds, it disappeared from my rear view! that's when i realized i was going 'way' too fast (for my drving standards) and dropped down to 100kmph, my average speed throughout the journey!!

The 260km distance from blore to vellore can be completed in 4 hours easily if only the silk board jn - hosur road stretch were 10% as good as the rest of the roads throghout the journey, we started a little late and were stuck in the hosur road elevated express way mess for over an hour!!

The only major setback from the entire trip was, the car got it's first scratch!! :Frustrati Yes, my platinum now has a long white streak of line accompanied by a few more scratches around the area going across the top of the bonnet on the extreme left. looks like someone pulled up next to the car, placed a bag probably with rollers on the bonnet and dragged it along!! wonder why someone would do that but i relly cannot think how else it could have happened!! i was disheartened to see it there but felt so helpless because i had no clue where or when it could have happened!!

Anyway, the car is now due for it's first service, will be dropped in for service sometime next week, if it does'nt cost too much, we might as well get that scartch removed!!

Update on the icecool shield on the windshield, it performed like a star even after sun down, and like vnabhi sir said a few days ago, it definitely reduces the glare from the oncoming vehicle's lights considerably and nope, it does not affect driving in the night one bit!! re-assuring that it's a must accessory to have!

There have been ongoing discussions here about the stock headlights on the fiesta, highbeam specifically being under-powered. Well, i agree with Shaju's views on this subject and would recommend an upgrade for people frequenting the highway's in the night! Although, in my opinion, the stock is just about 'good enough' for city driving conditions.

And oh yeah, the temple was simply amazing!! you've got to go see it to experience the WOW!! :)

Sorry to hear about the scratch, it is heart breaking.
Thanks for the update on the Windshield SunFilm, i think it will be added on to my list.

from the look of the first pic there seems to have been a traffic jam on the Golf Course road.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the ride.

Go Fida

Oh No the first scratch, its the most painful moment especially when it happens without your knowledge. Hope you are able to touch it up in your next service.

Nice to hear that you had a nice trip to Sripuram, based on the photos looks like you took a break at A2B. Hope the food was nice, the last time I visited it was bad.

I was not able to get the film installed this weekend, hope to have it installed by next week.

For the headlights, I think I will stick with the stock ones as I don't do much of highway driving during the nights

I shall be getting my 'first scratch' anytime soon. It's Mumbai. I gotta live with it!

Sure thing, let me know if you need the number of the guy where i got mine done again, it's already on this thread somewhere.

Yep, it was a bad traffic jam that day, took us some time to get to cubbon rd.

Yeah i know, was like :Shockked: when i noticed it!! anyway, it's settling in now! no choice but to live with it!!

A2B it was, we normally stop over for breakfast there during our early morning trips to Chennai but because we left a little late in the day, stopped over for lunch, was allrite! There is a new HP pump that has a Coffee Day 2-3 kms before A2B now, did'nt notice it the last time.

Congrats Raamki on the first scratch :thumbs up, scratch is no more a thing to worry nowadays, its a credit for the cars. I had got mine (just 1 inch long) on the back bumper left side, although no clue when and where it happend. However careful we are, certain scratches come just like that.

I have around 250 cars in my society, if you can spot just 1 car without a scratch (now mine also has one LOL), I will give you my Fiesta free ! Yesterday my neighbour came back in his black Fiesta with the boot completely punched inside. It looks horrible. He told me it happened with an aged driver in his Fiat Padmini with a poor breaking.

Now about your mention of first service ! How is it due now ? I am informed it is at 5000 kms or 3 months whichever comes first. Hope I am not missing some info here.

Icecool is in my consideration. I might get it done as fast as possible. Thanks for the info on that. I think its the cheap and best available right now. V-cool is above 8k as I am told by another friend.

Hey Shajufx,

Reg servicing, i think you are right. My dealer informed me that the first service is 5K kms or 3 months, whichever is earlier. The 2nd service is 10K kms or 6 months, whichever is earlier. Only first 2 services are free.

Thanks

folks, terribly sorry about the servicing confusion! it's 5000kms or 3 months from the date of purchase, indeed!!

i had gotten this confused to the chevy spark i took delivery of on behalf of my in laws recently which goes in for 1st service @ 1000kms!!

Dad is going to call Metro tomorrow and cancel the request for the pick-up!

Talking of scratches, IMHO, there is no worse place than Kolkata. People here just walk past your car and run a key along the body. I remember I used to park my Swift outside office in 2007 and one fine day someone had actually played cross and noughts on the bonnet. Yes, this thread isnt the best place to bring it up, but sometimes makes me think that even though we've graduated to fancy cars, our mentality lies entrenched in some prehistoric era.
