A common margin of km per liter for an efficient and refined turbo diesel engine (like the MJD) is 40% more than a gasoline engine.

hence as a "Jaagruk nagrik" I went for a MJD. ( not to mention the fun while driving )

all the above facts are backed by wikipedia, and surely there are limitations to the desel engine viz. the diesel particulate matter (black smoke) due to unburnt fuel etc., but with refinement in technology these side effects are being marginalized. hope this helps.
I never thought of it that way! Thanks for the info Anuj. Apart from getting the beauty your heart desires, you get to do something for Gaea when you drive a Punto MJD.

So an Update from my end:

I have recieved a Black E+ MJD, its the second week now, got it clocked to
1500+, had gone to Goa over the weekend, while going I was at 80-100
on the highways, engine was raspy and felt unresponsive, reached Goa
in 8 hours, got a FE of 20.1 kmpl. next morning, after having clocked
900 km overall, and well rested, the car was a different species, the
engine had smoothened out significantly, and the car noise had
subsided, it felt smooth, in spite of being cranked over 3000 rpm.

I noticed that there is a significant under-steer at high speeds, ( 70
and upwards ) and more so on the right side, I also felt that the car
dragged to the left, engine is torquey @ 3000 rpm, and if you are in
the correct gear, I felt the car is adequately powered.

Parts falling of: rear boot cover / parcel tray hook on the left side
is loosely fitted and falls of everytime the tray does not close
properly ( make sure if the boot is overflowing with stuff, and the
tray can not be properly fitted, remove it and keep it aside, instead
of just keeping it hanging on the luggage, I have noticed it is when
there is an eccentricity while closing the parcel tray ( due to
underlying luggage) there is an undue stress on those tiny hooks that
hold the tray at the rear.

on a bad road, once the handle to open the front bonnet lid fell off,
this has happened only once.

my Media player, sometimes, fails to recognize files on my 8 G USB,
but works like a charm on a 1G USB, MS and storage capacity issues are
a commonplace occurrence in the PC world, so it seems the core of Blue
and Me is same as any other Windows OS.

on our way back from Goa, we pushed the car, it was doing 120+ on the
highways and the FE was dropped to 18.1.

Ride was very comfortable, and in the back seat, I did not notice any
engine rasp noise. rear seat space was comfortable for us, we were 4
in the car and 5' 8" was the tallest guy, so all seats were adjusted
accordingly.

Night driving:I felt that the Headlight is insufficient, had used the fog lights, makes the highway more lit up ( obviously), I was used to a biXenon headlight, so that could be a factor.

Later,
Anuj.

Congrats Mundi,

Black is THE hot color for Punto. Please also post your pictures and your plans on maintaining the black color.

The rear parcel tray falling off is the issue in all puntos. Hopefully Fiat will rectify this before long.

Happy motoring the italian beauty.

Congratulations and a great choice, indeed! I am sure you will like your car for a long time. And I am not surprised about the color choice at all. Even to me, the default color for any vehicle would be black. My first two bikes (Suzuki Samurai & Yamaha RX135) and first car (Opel Corsa) were all black until the FTA Linea broke that tradition.
