Black Fiat Punto MJD E+booked.

hello folks,

I have booked a black Punto MJD E+ and i would like to mention @amoghchaphalkar helped me tremendously in setting an initial expectation @ the dealership and pushing and following through on my booking.

My Test Drive was very pleasant, my wife drove the punto MJD and couldn't tell if she was driving a petrol or a diesel ( this will be our first diesel car, point to be made here is the refinement in the MJD engine ) enough has been said about Punto to make it a very desirable hatch, but I personally felt that GTO did an excellent job in introducing the Punto to me.

I am looking forward to a great ownership experience ( keeping my figures crossed)

I will post my delivery experience shortly.

For the curious few who want to know why black:

my first bike was / is a black CBZ
my first car was a black Volvo S40 '05 ( in US )
My second Bike was a black Suzuki SV650 ( In US )
so it was but necessary to make my second car a black one.

my wife and I have an agreement to buy other colored cars for her.

Ciao. ( as they say it in Italy )
bhetu Punha ( as they say it in Pune )
-Anuj

my daily running will be 30 - 35 KMpL, still I went for the Diesel as Diesel engines have the highest thermal efficiency of any internal or external combustion engine, thereby making diesel automobiles' carbon footprint per km less than their equivalent power output gasoline engines. also the only "gasoline hybrid electric" car being sold in Indian market "the Honda civic hybrid" has a bigger carbon footprint per km than a diesel automobile, if you include the cumulative carbon footprint of the industry that makes the battery packs that go underneath the car for its hybrid motor. going forward with economies of scales that number will go down, but at present the affordable green choice in India is diesel, as diesel burns cleaner than gasoline w.r.t carbon monoxide content in the emissions, and also generate less waste heat in cooling and exhaust. A common margin of km per liter for an efficient and refined turbo diesel engine (like the MJD) is 40% more than a gasoline engine.

hence as a "Jaagruk nagrik" I went for a MJD. ( not to mention the fun while driving )

all the above facts are backed by wikipedia, and surely there are limitations to the desel engine viz. the diesel particulate matter (black smoke) due to unburnt fuel etc., but with refinement in technology these side effects are being marginalized. hope this helps.
