Cheers
I have noticed that for every car launch in recent times, these estimates are always lower than what the car eventually is priced at. I don't know why this happens, and I suspect it is the auto companies themselves that are guilty of doing this, to keep people waiting for their car to be released. Any other theory?

All that I 've learnt from above posts is Fortuner = a-gigantor-on-wheels-with-bland-interiors-that-costs-a-buyer-a-fortune SUV (I believe Toyota named it right) . Anyway nice write-up.

H-E-L-P

I've been waiting for the Fortuner for a while and finally gave up. A friend of mine is going abroad and I am to pick up his 2yr old 32K on the odo Nissan X-Trail. I'm aware of the the after sales service quality differences between the two brands. But how would you compare these two vehicles. Ive not been able to find much info on the X-Trail on Team-BHP.

'best
Arun

X trail is a very good vehicle, excellent fuel efficiency, its just that it does not have the road presence that the fortuner has.

I am going by the figure of 22L ex-showroom for the Fortuner, which is twice the price of Innova.

Anyway, we will know for sure by today.

Fortuner launched for 18.45 lacs (Ex- Showroom - Delhi)

Hi Guys
Its finally here and that too at a great price.
I quote
"New Delhi, Aug 24 Auto maker Toyota Kirloskar Motor today announced the launch of its sports utility vehicle Fortuner, priced at Rs 18.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new SUV comes with a 3.0 litre D-4D diesel engine with five speed manuel transmission.
"Globally, Fortuner has already sold over 2.5 lakh units in more than 60 countries since its launch in 2005. The launch of Fortuner today is an expression of Toyota&aposs commitment to provide best in class quality and technology to our customers in India," Toyota Motor Corporation Senior Managing Director Akira Okabe told reporters here.
"The SUV market in India has witnessed extensive growth due to launches in mid and premium SUV segment. We expect that the launch of the Fortuner will expand the mid SUV market in India," Toyota Kiloskar Motor Deputy Managing Director (marketing) Sandeep Singh said.
Toyota Kiloskar Motor is a joint venture between Japan-based Toyota Motor Corporation and India&aposs Kirloskar group."

LAUNCHED! All prices ex-showroom Delhi:

Fortuner : 18.45
Pajero : 20.64
Endeavour : 17.38 (3.0 4x4 variant)
Captiva : 21.50 (AWD variant)

AWESOME pricing, superb value for a Toyota 4x4 SUV. Heck, this makes the Pajero & Captiva seem overpriced. I'm glad that Toyota has priced the Fortuner realistically, and not gone overboard with the Toyota badge (as Honda did with the Jazz). To most potential customers, the Fortuner becomes a no-brainer at this price.

Thank You Ranc! Would it be a good buy at 13L compared to a new Fortuner at 20L? While looks do matter, I might actually prefer an inconspicuous vehicle as long as i know it can do what I want it to. I'm not a serious offroader. I travel a lot and would like to go down a bad road or path or whatever once in a way.

18.45L for Fortuner is a slap in the face for Pajero and Captiva. Way to go Toyota, that's great pricing compared to all other lesser SUVs in the market.

The on-road price in Karnataka will be Rs.22.25L...

That is a surprise, though in places like Pune and Bangalore, that will still translate to around Rs 22 lakhs on road, that is still a good 2-3 lakhs lower than the Paj/Captiva. So it is still a significant distance from the Innova and will not eat into its market. It will be interesting to see how HM reacts. And I am guessing Ford will now have a problem pricing their new Endeavour.
@ Samurai - 23.3??? How much is the Pajero in Bangalore then- 25.5???

Thats a pleasant surprise to other manufacturers. May be since Fortuner is sharing parts with Innova, hence the reduction in price.

The colors are super white, silver mica metallic, grey mica metallic, black mica and light blue metallic.

The Fortuner comes with full time 4WD.
