The Storm was TD by my Jeep Mechanic Md. Ali today. The first thing he did as all mechanics is open the hood and look inside the engine bay and @#$%

I had to tell him this is NOT the scorpio engine BUT the xylo engine.

The master craftsman and driver that he is, checked the power delivery of the vehicle and appreciated the smoothness of the engine by taking it for a small TD.

Kudos to Mahindra for refining the "JEEP" through the years.

All oils and fluids should be changed during 1st Service. After that the next oil change is at 20K.

OK -

1st Free Service completed and delivered today by MPL Motors, Chennai.

Paid for replacement of all oils and diesel filter - That Diesel filter costs a bomb and is imported from Spain and made by Bosch!

Will posts pics of the filter soon!

BTW, I have a strange problem - My first gear slips into Neutral ONLY when the engine is cold!!

MPL confirmed the problem and have agreed to replace the erroneous part - My question is - why open a new GB and replace a part - Why NOT give me a GB replacement?

What say guys?

I suggest you speak to the Service head for TN. If you want a new GB only he will be able to approve that.

Ask the works manager of the dealership. He will give you number or even the service advisors know the numbers. Ask for the guy who handles the dealership from M&M. He must be able to help you.

I can understand u wouldnt want your new gearbox to be opened. But, It could be a small job. Anyway it is your choice. Give them a chance. If issue persists then u can ask for a new one and they will give it to you.

p.s- please do tell me if the issue persists beyond acceptable level. I will give you right contacts. Trust me M&M is very helpful and cooperative unlike TATA

Through my interaction with various service dealers across the country, this I have to agree is very true.

I too feel that the above is a reasonable approach on the issue, Headers. But, like Vinod said - your call.

The Air pressure came down to 10 psi and i refilled to 30. Drove for more than 400 kms and 2 days and realised that the pressure was coming down if vehicle stationary for more than 6 hours.

And found the culprit

A size comparison :

The Cooper 235s held on pretty well.

Update: 6000+ kms and going strong

The Storm was picked up last Monday with prior appointment for the "first gear slip when cold" issue and returned the same day.

The problem seems to be addressed, but am yet to get the details as to what they have done to the vehicle.

FE hovers in the region of 11.98 to 12.9. Cant manage 13 yet!!
