26000 K.M - 2nd Paid Service Update

A Highway trip FE info and 2nd Paid service @ 26000 K.M Update

I had an urgent meeting to attend on 30th July afternoon so decided to travel by car. Left home on Saturday at 4.30 a.m and reached udupi by 12.30 in the afternoon. Took one break for having breakfast at KAMAT and few stops for attending calls.

Maintained a max speed of 80kmp through out the trip except for the Ghat section. Topped at Udupi after some city run and it took 17.37 ltrs. Before refilling i had a look at the fuel meter and the needle was in between 1/4 and 1/2 mark. A/c was sparingly used as the climate was too good.

As per the Trip computer reading:

Total distance traveled : 436.2 k.m
Engine Running time : 8.25 hrs

so 436.2/ 17.37 = 25.11 kmpl

While returning on the same day evening i was sure that i m not going to get the same FE as traffic was more. I reached back Bangalore around 2:00a.m (Sunday Morning) and fuel needle was crossed 1/2 way mark already.

Few things i noticed on this trip:

Steering and suspension noise was evident on the slow moving ghat section.
Few plastic rubbing noises from the dashboard.
Car used to drag to left while braking.

2nd Paid service @ 26000 k.m

Got a call from Trident for reminding the service and i fixed an appointment for MONDAY (1.8.11).

Things which i pointed out to the S.E

1. Suspension and Steering noise.
2. Wiper blades change
3. Car pulling left while braking - Tyre rotation , alignment and balancing.
4. Brake pad check/change
5. Emission test

Around afternoon i got a call from the SE updating the brake pad condition and i told me to replace it. He also informed me that both the strut insulator are weak and it will be replaced under warranty.

On my 1st Paid service too strut insulator assy was changed under warranty and at that time the car was done 19000+ k.m, so its getting weaker for 7000 k.m ?!. Can any one have more knowledge about this.

At 6 p.m i called him again and my car was ready. Took a small run and things were satisfactory. They have done some lubrication to get rid off the steering noise temporarily.(What else you can expect from Hyundai)

Here is my cost breakup for the 2nd paid service.

1. Windscreen wiper cleaner - Rs.87.72
2. Hyundai engine oil - Rs.706.10
3. Consumables - Rs.129.38
4. Wheel balancing weights clip on (10nos) - Rs.223.04
5. Coolant - Rs.52.63

7. Rubber Assy - Wiper blade - Driver side - Rs.333.79
8. Pad Kit - Disc Brake - Rs.1309.28
9. Filte Assy - Engine oil - Rs.74.78
10. Insulator Assy - Strut - Rs.0.00

Labour And Services

1. Emission Test - Rs.75.00
2. Wiper blade replaced - Rs.70.00
3. A/c filter cleaning - Rs.200.00
4. Brake drum rear cleaning - Rs.140.00
5. Brake pad front cleaning and caliper cleaning - Rs.280.00

7. Wheel Alignment - Rs.355.00
8. Periodic Maintenance Service - Rs.855.00
9. Tyre rotation - Rs.0.00
10. Insulator Assy Strut - 0.00

Sub Total : Rs.3274.83 (for replaced items)
VAT @ 14% on Rs.3274.83 = 458.42

Sub Total : Rs.2325.00 (for Labour and Service)
Service Tax @10% on Rs.2325.00 = Rs.232.50

Re: Feels like i'm 20 now - Hyundai i20 Asta 1.2

1. Any particular reason to go for OEM wiper blades considering the fact that you'd get Bosch for around 350 for a pair?
2. Also, what is the windscreen wiper cleaner? Is it the washer fluid?
3. Is the emission test different than the PUC tests that we do? Why did you opt for this?
4. Yours is a Petrol car isn't it? You got 25 kmpl? I am assuming your tank was full before you started your trip. It's too good to be true.

@ kalpeshc

1. I was looking for Bosch Aero twin, but couldn't find it, so decided to go with this.
2. Its a Washer Fluid.
3. Its the same and the dealer got a direct account with Transport department for this.
4. Yes I filled the tank before the trip. The figure i got from the Tankful to Tankful method. Even i got shocked by seeing the figure.

Re: Feels like i'm 20 now - Hyundai i20 Asta 1.2

If it's indeed 25, I'm the happiest person on earth. This means that I can strive for a 20+ figure on highways. I had given up hopes of achieving anything more than 16 on the highways for this guzzler. Right now I am sitting on a lousy 11.5 but that's in traffic with AC and I am learning to drive (so lot's of revving)

What kind of suspension noises did you face?

One other query - whenever I ask my pump to stop at cut-off, the needle never shows the tank as being completely full, it's always a bit below the first notch. Have you faced this issue?

Re: Feels like i'm 20 now - Hyundai i20 Asta 1.2

@kalpeshc

Even i'm getting 10 - 12 kmpl in Bangalore city driving with full time A/c. May be the 25kmpl which i got is c'se of very sparingly used A/c due to the weather condition.

Suspension noise - Its a kind of tik-tik noise which was coming from the RHS side all road conditions.

Regarding the needle, in my car when i do a full tank auto cut off its always just above the starting mark.

Re: Feels like i'm 20 now - Hyundai i20 Asta 1.2

@wildon - Would the needle pointer be related to the pump as all pumps may have different auto cutoff mechanism isnt it?

Re: Feels like i'm 20 now - Hyundai i20 Asta 1.2

Hey thanks a lot! Can you tell what kind of flasher module goes in there? Any one of these look identical to it!? - LED Flashers Blinkers Resistors Load Equalizers for Turn Signal Replacement Bulbs Rapid Flashing Fix
I need to order a spare from elsewhere and need to know what is it like!

Btw I did try to narrow it down using the clicking sound thats made during indicator engagement and I figured its behind the interior fuse box or some place!

btw the pic is really hard to 'decode' lol! Cant assess the location from it!

The model EP34 will match with the existing unit.
On the existing Flasher unit there will be 3 wires,
1. Green wire (there will be 2 green wire) > goes to switch i.e in EP34 it will be L
2. Brown/orange wire > goes to power i.e in EP34 it will be B
3. Blue wire> goes to Earth i.e in EP34 it will be E

Note: I cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong.

Hey,
Is that a map light that you have in your car? Where did you get it from?

The light in my i20 looks different, it's a rectangle light placed between the front seats..

I think Asta model has cabin lights situated up front, near IRVM, whereas magna has cabin lights in between the front seats.

Are you sure? I have a Nov '10 Asta crdi.. pretty sure there is nothing up front.

Could you take a closer pic of the same?

Edit: my bad, I just saw that you have the Asta(o) with the sunroof!

Any idea if the map light can be retrofitted to the regular Asta?

Good to know that your beautiful machine is back on the roads.

Can you please let me know where did you source those illuminated scuff plates? And can you tell me how do they glow, in the first place?
