pk_del, Congrats for owning the Italian Beauty

Punto looks very elegant in this color, Enjoy the beauty and keep us posted with the ownership experience as you clock more miles.

+1 to that ! Can you throw some more light on this ? Like was it used for some time, where it broke away from it's mooring, etc. Or was it just poor PDI from Fiat which caused this ? Lovely looking car BTW !

@Amit

Yes I do have a running ownership report. Somehow I am not able to edit the title of that thread. This is the reason I had to post to new thread.

@Hoopoe and Kannan

I dont know why it fell off. I cleaned the car on that fateful day (wiper was there) and when I reached office, to my surprise, I saw that my wiper was not there. I didnt stop in between neither did I leave the car unattended.

Nice pics pk_del, but probably you need to merge this thread with your existing one to have all info in one place.

Hey pk del,
Nice colour (med grey). I may settle for the same. Looks stunning.
The mud flaps gives it a touring car look. Keep it up.

Donot go for artificial leather seat covers. This is a problem in summer as the seats get heated up prettly fast( iam facing this problem in my santro). Stick to some nice looking Jaquard fabric.

@MCR

Thanks for the compliments. I googled on Jacquard fabric seat covers and was able to find some cool colors. I will have to see them personally though.

One point I would like to bring up regarding Punto's low beam:

The low beam has steep cut off and the area after the cut off is completely blackend. So basically on dark streets you will just see until where the low beam ends. Area after that is not visible. This is very scary specially during fast driving.

Only solution I see is to switch to high beams.

Just ask the mods to update the title or else everytime you hit a landmark driving your car you will have to start a new thread and the entire data will get spread over 4-5 ownership reports!

Rear wiper falling off is hard to believe. It's probably a case of someone trying to yank it out which resulted in it breaking and hence falling off.

@Aarnes: I still have to decide on my seat covers. It will be done after Diwali.

Here is 1850 KM report:

Mileage has now settled between 17 - 18 KMPL with 50 % AC ON.

Car is quiet with out any rattles.

Engine:

Definitely feeling much smoother and quieter. I am enjoying the smooth pull between 2K RPM - 3.5 K RPM. Did not dare to take it beyond 3.5 K RPM.

Things to be done:

1. Under body protection
2. 3M Paint protection
3. Seat covers
4. Sunfilm

Question to fellow GP MJD owners:

1. Is oil change recommended after initial run in (i.e., 3K KM's)? As per manual it should be done only @ 15K KM.
2. Tire pressure: currently I am keeping the air pressure @ 31 psi. Is this fine or should I increase to 33 psi

General query:

1. Car care kit: I am going to purchase 3M shampoo wash and 3M liquid car wax. Is this fine or do you recommend Turtle liquid car wax polish. From the threads I feel Turtle is much better choice.

Thanks

Dear GP owners:

I have a query for you. Pls let me know if you notice this also:

The doors auto lock at 20 KMPH. This is fine. But when I stop the car and turn off the ignition they should unlock automatically. I remember the doors used to unlock but now they dont...Are you also facing this?

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your purchase PK! The Color choice is very nice I would like to know where are you getting the underbody and 3m paint protection done from? And what are the respective costs associated.

cheers

Thanks aZa,

The 3M paint protection cost is Rs. 1200 for one time and Rs. 2500/= for three times in an yr. I was able to find out the direct supplier of 3M in NCR region. I got the complete 3M car care kit from him. Pls PM me for more details.

Regarding under body protection, I think it was Rs 3500/= (+/- few hundred bucks) from TATA-FIAT service center.
