First Service Completed

Sat 5th Dec, the Fiesta went for her first Service.
I dropped the car off at 8:50am at the St.Marks Road service station.
I was luckly number 11, was guided up to the "Interactive Reception".
A service advisor was with me in a few minutes.
The normal check of the vehicle for dents & sractches, the driver seat covered with the plastic seat cover.
Once that was over, the car was raised to have a look at the under chassis.
Similar to Frank's 1.6S i to saw what looks like Rust on wheels joints (if thats what they are called). The Service Advisor assured me this is normal.
Next, thanks to the great non uniform speed breakers of bangalore (i am guessing) some of the undercoating had got scraped off. To aviod rusting in those small areas i was suggested to go for the undercoating (approx rs 2800/-) with a 2 years warranty.
This means in 2 years if i happen to scrape underchassis then they will do a touch up on the spots for free.
So what the heck went ahead with the option.
The ETD for the car was around 2:00pm.
Sure engoug at around 1 or so i got a call stating the car was ready.
Reach the Service station by 3:00pm and picked car by 3:30 or so after having a check of the Waxoly treatment (some pics attached)

Overall Very Statisfied with total experince.

Summary 1st Service
ODO : 3400KM
Cost : Free
Waxoly underchassis treatment: RS 3145/-

Total: Rs 3145/-

I had also asked how much is the clock which had come in the previous version of the Fiesta, i was give a approx cost of Rs5000/-
So it got dropped off my wish list.

So there was no oil change? I always assumed oil would be changed during the first service.

Ford recommends oil change only in the 2nd service i.e 6th month or 10000km whichever comes earlier. However, if you insist then the dealer will do the oil change?

Better Door locking

On Sunday while on a drive with my Wife and son ( 1year old) , both always sit in the front and although this is not the legal in many conutries, i think it is in India.
I had my doubts about the Fiesta's door locking mechanish while i was researching on picking up a new car.
The Fiesta has a single handle which acts as the lock when pushed in.
Now my naguhtly little son decided to see what happens if he pulls the handle. I always lock the door once we are in so i when i heard the lock disengage i was shocked.
A quick relock of the doors and pulled over to the side.
Got the wife and kid in the rear seat and enabled the childlock.
This is the best and safest way to travel but feels different.
If the Fiesta had a seperate lock from the door handle it would make it more difficult for such accidents/incidents to happen.

Now the family stuck in the car till I open the door

Not sure if this was covered in other post but wanted to share my opinion and experince here.

So, because of your son's mischieveness (or trying to learn how to open a locked door from inside?), you put both of them under lock in the backseat - punishment?
(Joking).

May be car companies have provided the child lock only for rear doors so it means that childrens are to be kept always in the 'backseat'?

It is illegal for children below a certain age to be in the front seat in many countries.
Hence you are correct to say that children need to be in the backseat, in a car seat if needed, wearing the seat belt.

I feel much more relaxed this way, knowing he cannot open the door in the rear.

Yes indeed, but how many follow these kind of regulations in India.
Also keeping kids in the rear seat, just like that, is also dangerous as they may
be thrown out of the seat when one apply sudden brake in emergency.
so you need a special seat for them with a seat belt?

2nd Service Completed

This Sat 6th March, the Fiesta had gone in for a 2nd Service.
Over 6K KMs in 6 months.

Total Cost of service: Rs 1041/- (oil + oil filter)

Service was very prompt, a few small things which i felt were an added touch of Customer Service
1) i get a reminder call the day before.
2) On arriving at the Service center they have the Job card sheet paritial filled with the base information.

The car is running running smooth and enjoying every bit of its drive.

Driving in the Rain: Wiper or Wiper Wahser issue?

Yesterday i got caught in the rain in the evening. It was just my wife, my son and me in the car.
The AC was on, Circulatory On, Blower on 2, Thermostat at full.
The directional control was set to the "arrow pointing to the seat"
Issue: the front started to feel like its is fogged up.

Action taken: Move the directional control to the Windscreen mode.
Use the wiper and wiper washer fluid.

Result: Not to good, the visibility was poor. the water which slided from the from the top of the windscreen, seemed to make the area it slide on clear.

Now in the past, ie when using my Indica doing the above actions helped in clearing the windscreen up in a jiffy.

I am not sure what is happening.
Do i need new wipers ?
Do i need to clean out the washer liquid?

With the monsoon season here i need to get this sorted out.
Will pull out the manual and will have a read
any ideas or solution would be great.

Squeaking Sound from the r:)ear

Well everyone a short update.
The car has done just under 9K KM and over the past month or two there has been slight squeaking sound from the rear.
I always thought it was do with all the stuff i had in the boot or the rear sit was not seated correctly.

Well i did some searching here and found it to be a common issue in the Fiesta.
Decided to go to the Ford Service center today on St Marks road to get it checked.

Reached there by 1:00pm or so. Met

Decided to go to the Ford Service center today on St Marks road to get it checked.

Reached there by 1:00pm or so. Met one Mr. Balaji, explained him the issue.
He said, lets go for a test drive.
He followed the standard TD route and we were able to hear the Squeak.
Brought the car back and asked me to wait in the customer lounge.
He took the car into the workshop.
In about 15mins to 20mins, the car was ready.
It was explained the issue was the hand brake cable, it needed some grease or such.
Went for another TD and it was perfect.
The car is no longer having the Squeak.

This was an unexpected stop into the workshop but they we very helpful and i guess this is a known issue hence the quick solution.

There was no bill or job card. Very prompt service for a Sunday.

Good job Metro Ford.

Go Fida.

@yajaman

Even I had a the same issue which I had highlighted in the second service and was resolved immediately. No more squeaks heard since then.
I think this hand brake cable issue is getting more common, other Fiestaians can take neccessary precautions.
Did Metro Ford tell you the reason for the cable not having enough greasing? My dealer told me that the cable had actually moved out from its supporting slot and hence the squeak.
