car_crazy1400- Please do try and get some technical info on the brake upgrade from your friend.

Toyota probably won't recall the current Fortuners as there are customer like Manuuj who are satisfied with the brakes. There was a brake squeeking problem on the initial batches of the Altis and Toyota changed the needed parts on customers that came in with the complaint, later those parts became standard on the forthcoming Altis.
At the end of the day, recall or no recall, Toyota would make sure the customer is satisfied.

BUMP!!

Guys!, I finally got my Fortuner delivered , yesterday evening. In black color. And I got it confirmed from My friend in Toyota that mine is the first lot of Fortuners coming in with upgraded brake system. Mine has been manufactured on 3'rd of March 2010.
It was dispatched on 11'th & was delivered yesterday. During the auspicious navratras.

Brake info: The company has changed brake calipers & pins to improve the poor feedback from the brake pedal in Earlier Fortuners.

Accessories : Black fender Mirror (4100) & Rear Exhaust Tip (900).

Will get foot mats from the open market, today.

Yes, and how does the upgrades feel while braking? Especially at higher speeds.

Ownership Update: Done 500 kms till now. Yesterday, got out of office , was driving home and get the shock of my life when 2 of my workers suddenly stop me and point me to my front tire. The tire's side wall was cut by a small stone ( the kind of stone that I would not even think twice before driving over in a Maruti 800). All air leaked out suddenly. And I had to get the tire changed & get a brand new one as sidewall cuts in a tubeless tire are not repairable.

To cut a long story short, I paid Rs.8500 for a new tire & the tire guy commented that Dunlops are too soft for our roads and Even I checked it out on my cut tire and compared it to a Yokohama.

Now my question is, If the tire is so soft that it cant even take a small stone, then how can I even expect the tires to perform off-road? and Is Toyota right by offering such poor quality tires on our poor quality roads?

This would not have been covered under warranty by Toyota as it was a cut an would have been blamed as my fault.
