Hi aks,

I chose the colour as the other options were becoming common.
I chose this over the Altis and the Civic as the rear leg room and the seat height were good for people who prefer to lounge at the back. I've had passengers who've slept with a cushion for a pillow at the back, while I drove on highways. So no problem re. space or comfort there.

NVH is ok, you don't hear anything inside but once you open the door, the familiar diesel clatter greets you- no getting away from that. The noise insulation is decent.

On gadgets, I haven't had the time to try out anything! Really! Not even the CD player, with the ten speakers. Will try out soon, reckon the audio quality to be adequate.

Will post some snaps of the interior - the camera phone is a wrong choice for interior photography and so will take snaps with a regular digital camera for clarity and colour fidelity. I chose grey interiors for 1. ensuring cleanliness, and 2. the beige looked showy, the grey looks more elegant and understated.

Plan to take her out on the highway during this coming long weekend - will take snaps and update you.

Regards & take care.

Lads,

Please bear with me - I'll take snaps of the interiors and download it to my laptop ( which is the difficult part because of corporate firewalls and security policies) as a one-off to ensure that your requests for snaps are met!

Recently I did the Bombay -Dahanu-Bordi-Daman -Devka-Udvada and back(Udvada -NH8-Bombay) trip, clocking about 403.3 kms. The average fuel consumption ( will double check!) was approximately 15 kmpl- with Indian Oil HSD ( plain, not Extra Mile), fuelled at the Indian Oil COCO near the international cargo terminal. All tyres were at 32 psi.

I drove safely ( touched 110 kmph a few times, but kept within 100 kmph most of the time),rarely going over 2k revs. The car has done about 3k kms overall. The high point of the trip was 1. the winding road to Dahanu, (after crossing Charoti toll naka on NH8, you turn left off the highway) 2. the winding coastal road just past Dahanu beach enroute to Gholvad & Bordi, 3. the up and down road from Silvassa to Dudhni ( about 46 kms), on the edge of the Madhuban lake.

Udvada is a town which is quintessentially Parsi and is the better for it - no unseemly noise, no chaotic traffic, lots of genteel, but decaying houses and the Atash Behram agiary - entrance to non-Parsis prohibited - apparently the Parsis follow to this day the edict of the local king who enjoined on the Parsis (escaping religious persecution in their native Persia) one of a few conditions, wherein no Hindu subject of the king would be allowed entrance.

More in my next post.

Regards

Lads,

Any advice on sunfilm for the Jetta?
The dealers in Pune ( Vidyut Motors) have suggested 3M; VW has suggested Llumar and the dealer in Mumbai ( Downtown) haven't suggested anything at all.
VW is firming up vendors for its Polo, to be launched in thye JFM quarter 2010.

Advice/inputs welcome...

Some more visuals of the Jetta I

Lads,

I am putting up some pics of the Jetta.
Apologies for this delayed response, due to 1. problems in downloading the file from the digicam to my laptop, 2. Work, and 3. General laziness.

For your reference,

Pics 1-2 : Jetta's first ride to the Taj President, Colaba, Bombay
Pic 3: At Uran
Pic 4 : At Varsoli (Alibaug), outside Ratan Tata's bungalow

Posting more in my next post.

Meanwhile, enjoy!

Your Jetta looks really classy. Simple, clean lines! I love it.
Solid interiors aswell!

Does the stereo have a usb connection or only aux?
