My New Passat

I bought a new Passat two weeks back(last month).VW Mumbai offered me a good deal,I got a handsome offer on my 2007 Honda CRV automatic plus quite a few goodies for passat.I have driven for about 720 km.on my new Passat. After driving CRV for about six years,(bought my first CRV in 2003),driving Passat is a welcome change. The first thing I notice is suspension,is much smoother ride than CRV.The new passat has 2ltr.CRDI engine, still there is some amount of turbo lag.The inside fit and finish is excellent(but I think CRV has a better finish). The indian passat is assembled in skoda factory at Aurangabad from CKD kits from VW Brazil and chasis from VW mexico(as told by western regional sales MGR VW Mumbai).

Am not such a big fan of how the Passat looks, but it looks very good in this colour. It would be very nice if you could update us on the delivery process, how much you paid for extended warranty (if you did) and so on.

And, Congratulations on your ride!

Beautiful color and a welcome change from the regular ones on the road. Congrats !!!

Care to share the details of OTR pricing, deal info and what was that offer on CRV?

Congratulations on a fantastic buy !! I've always liked the Passat in this shade of brown, I think the rear end looks best in this colour. I'm sure you find the DSG to be far superior to the Honda A/T's, especially the tiptronic function with paddle shifters (if you've got the S version). Do put up some more pictures, especially interior pics, and I hope you got a killer deal from VW i.e. the free insurance + maintenance package. It's a good initiative from them.

One more thing, please keep us updated on your services and oil changes. The previous PD engine was reported to consume engine oil at alarming rates, requiring an oil change even before the first service in some cases. Hence, we're curious to know how the new CRDi engine fares.

Hi Vasant,

Best wishes for a good choice. It is not easy to put your money on a product which is not quite there in the public eye. Do keep us posted about any developments on your outstation trips and on service related issues. Did you buy from Downtown VW? I ask this because I am trying to get rubber mats, parking sensors and sun film through them (for my Jetta)and they are yet to get their after sales act together...

The Passat is the kind of car where you make a subtle statement by not making a statement, unlike say a Camry or a 3 series or a C class...congratulations.
Regards

Congrats on the buy. It would be great and helpful for other buyers if you could post pix and service details.

What was your other option?
