Congrats TC_aashay,

My Brother too booked Punto in same color and variant that too in PETROL.
It's Passion Red punto 1.4 Petrol Emotion Pack.might be delivered on next wednesday.
Today we went to yard and done PDI and ask them to go ahead and paid full amount except Insurance.

Planned to get insurance from outside through Baja Allianz.
What about your insurance.
Here in Chennai for Rs.565098(Ex-Showroom) as IDV ,insurance amount is Rs.16846.
speaking with the agent to decrease the amount

The saga has come of age, at least on TBHP. Great article there @ aashay. I look forward to reading your ownership experiences as we go along.

A few points in your article caught my attention: (my responses in bold)

Too true, too true. Spoken like a real petrol-head.

Congratulations again on the new beauty, wish you many miles of happy motoring.

Congrats on the 1.4 petrol Punto. There are very few on our forum, the price diff is less between MJD and Fire in Punto so people are going for MJD.

Yeah, the joy of going all the way to 6K RPM from 2K RPM is awesome in 3rd gear. At 6K RPM, the engine note always brings a smile to my face. Zero vibrations+awesome engine sound, a delight for petrolheads.

Congrats man!

My bro and I took delivery of his 1.4 EP GP a few days back, so you are definitely not alone!

Have fun. Do check out the thread if you can. I was having some concerns about its performance, maybe you can help clear them.

Thanks! And cheers for the new hot ride!

was pairing your phone to the bluetooth system in the car simple? is there an i pod aux in socket?
I own a HTC Jade (3G), windows mobile.. so yes it was very easy to pair the phone. The problem I'm facing is using the advanced blue & me; read sms, download entire phonebook.. Its tiring to send contacts 1 by 1.. Actually I'm still to explore the full potential of my phone!

No there is no provision for aux., just a USB port. If you have a mp3 player that connects as a mass storage device directly to a usb port of a computer then its a lot better than using a aux. cable in the punto!

Yes that is AGC. behind 3H.

Congratulations on your 1.4 petrol Punto. Your buying experience also made for an interesting read. Do post regular updates on your ownership and service experiences.

Drive safe

P.S Do you have a house in Pune? Wouldnt it be cheaper to register it there?
Thanks..
Yea, in a way all fiat cars do have some ferrari in them..
We wanted a mumbai registered car, as we stay here, and use the pune house rarely.. In a month may be just 1 visit for the weekend to pune.

And what are we Linea owners? "Sautela" bhai of Punters?
Thanks bhai..
Naa.. I always felt the linea to be the "bigger" brother.. speaking about linea; how hard is it to distinguish between a linea and the punto from the front alone??

Passion red?? i assume its exotica red for the punto!

Actually i had taken a quote from bajaj allianz almost a month back..
And ex-showroom in mumbai is 5,80,240. in august when i received the quote bajaj offered 12,852 i saved this refrence number and used it when i recieved the car details (engine + chassis number)

Just to check if they were offering some more less premium, i called them up again in 1st week of sept, they were asking for 19,000 for the same ex-showroom. so i went in with my old quote.

I dont have much clue with chennai dealings..

Congrats TC_aashay

A RED is a RED is a RED.. thats what comes to mind for Punto/ Linea in RED. Smashing, just smashing & look at the gloss !!

On that Engine sound - everytime in my Linea when I pick up revvs in Mumbai traffic in 1st/ 2nd gear, above 3000 rpm, just love the way engine "sings", WOW !!
