Cheers,
Going OT, anyone knows the cetane number for Shell regular/premium diesel ? The Punto manual recommends using a cetane number of at least 51. I googled on the net but could not find anything. Right now am using IOC regular.

And congrats on your red hottie TC_aashay

Thanks!

Wikipedia explained:

Cetane number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

About.com says:
Cetane Numbers of Various Diesel Fuels

Normal modern highway diesels run best with a fuel rated between 45 and 55. Following is a list cetane numbers varying grades and types of compression ignition diesel fuels:
  • Regular diesel--48
  • Premium diesel--55
  • Biodiesel (B100)--55
  • Biodiesel blend (B20)--50
  • Synthetic diesel--55
(Diesel Cetane Number - Diesel Fuel Cetane Rating - What is Cetane)

So I guess shell regular diesel in India should be OK going by about.com and assuming shell is same in india as outside.

Stick to IOC regular; I found it to be better than HP and others + its cheaper than shell.

i really dont think the centane number for diesel is disclosed in india with the recurrent issues with fuel in india..

Night pics

Shot these pics a few weeks back.

Love the different red color under sodium lights.

No Special effects.

My personal favorite is the right side pic & the nose closeup.

BTW my shoe size is 10, so the pedals are quite comfy. But I prefer driving without shoes when possible.

nice pics Aashay. Do put some lovely leather seat covers on your ride.

BTW, is it just me or in the last pic does the central console look as if its tilting away from the driver?

nice shots!

Is that another smaller mat (where you keep your foot) on top of the bigger mat or is it a single mat with two layers?

Thanks. The camera was tilted a bit, plus the gear lever is set in a particular angle for the driver, hence the illusion.

The small mat is stitched to the big mat. It has some hard padding. Plus I have kept a acrylic board below the mat, so the floor board doesn't bend where you rest you heel. Had that experience in my old car.

Wow! Great Pics TC_Aashay. I also got my Punto 1.4 in Electric Blue just a week back done about 120 km till now. I liked those pedals, where did you get them from? How do they fix it on the stock ones? And they look a little wide, dont they obstruct while clutching/braking?

Can you give me some tips, I am new to M/T and since Punto's clutch is long, I find it a little diificult when releasing the cluth, there is slight jerk when I release it instantly when the car is moving. But when i do it slowly its fine. So is the efficient way is to release the cluth slowly? Does you vehicle too has the same feel?

Also when upshifting to first and then to second when in normal traffic, I tend to rev it a bit more and the rpm shoots up to 3k and above. Is it corrrect way of driving or should I be more modest when dabbing the gas pedal.

Currently I am getting 10.2 kmpl in city traffic of Bangalore. and I did touch around 12.9 kmpl once. These figures with AC on always.
