Team-BHP - Added a "Spark" to my life

Congrats on your first car Keviv! This is like deja vu, we just got a Spark for my Bhabhi from National Garage & got it kitted out at Auto King only recently. You live in Shivaji Park? Keep an eye out for my Jeep and holla when you see it.

The Spark is a nippy city hatch. An excellent buy for the price. Decent build, peppy engine, tight handling (by hatch standards). You should see the smile on my face when I'm hurling down the lonavla ghats in a Spark!

Why not? GM sells the Spark with a colour palette, though the greens & reds are better for lady owners. We got the metallic red.

I've been an Auto King customer for over 15 years now. Excellent service. He's good for bolt on parts. However, the quality of labour out there is inconsistent.

Congrats again. Drive safe, and take your time to learn the ropes. Focus on the basics, proceed one step at a time. It's important to get the fundamentals right when learning how to drive.

Congrats Keviv. trust me, this is one hell of a car! I loved this car for its sprinting abilities when i took a test drive. I decided against this as it was toooooo hard for me to drive [I am 6.2" and my knee was hitting the central console]. I loved the suspension and the handling too. a GREAT city car. And i fight with my friends when they say this is not a good car. Hope it adds lots of SPARKS in your life. Drive safe.

Yes GTO. I stay near Shivaji Park. Will keep my eyes open for your jeep :) And btw, I had read in one of your posts that you are a regular at Autoking. That did play a role in making me comfortable in spending 18k at that place.

The suggestions I have received so far to spend the 2.5K I am left with:
1) Fog lights
2) Alloys
3) Car cover
4) Louder horn

Few from my side (Though most of them I considered in the beginning and then put them on a backburner):
1) Charger (300 Rs.. Given the very limited long distance driving I would be doing at this stage, I don't see much of a utility for this)
2) Rear parcel tray (350 Rs.. But will kill the boot space somewhat)
3) Side and bumper beading (not very keen though)
4) Teflon (once rains subside, though I am aware T-BHP advises against it)
5) Anti-rust
6) Car care stuff (wax et al. Though need to gather details on this)
7) Neck rests
8) Comprehensive took kit (Got to do gather details on this also)

Of all the above I am keen on Car cover, car care stuff and Anti-rust. Let me get some quotes for these from Autoking! Need to do some research on Fog lamps as well.

No frequentflyer. I did not get any rear parcel tray. I got to know later from T-BHP that earlier versions of Spark LS had the rear parcel tray but they later discontinued it (after the discounts, possibly for cost cutting). I had no discussions with the dealer on this topic.

Hi frequentflyer,

350 is what the Autoking person told me when he explained me the costing if I would have gone for oval speakers at the rear, installation of which would ahve required a rear parcel tray.

Perhaps, your quote is a dealer quote, which like in case of every other accesory, is at a considerable premium compared to the accessory shops.

I tried searching for an answer to this query. But could not get any satisfactory results.

Chevy Spark manual says the tank capacity is 38 litres. However, yesterday when the fuel gauge was just below the quarter mark, I filled till Auto-cut off and the quantity of fuel that went in was 22.5 litres only. On this basis (22.5 / 0.75) the tank capacity comes out to be only 30 litres. What am I missing here?

And by the way, I finished my first reassurance checkup. The gearshift is still nothcy, frustrating at times, since it is now not just the first and reverse gear but also the third and fifth gear that are notchy. And at least once, there was no cooling in spite of the AC running for 15 minutes. Let me see if this repeats.

I will suggest go for a Belkin 200 W inverter instead and you can operate almost anything (as per wattage) including mobile charging !!

Also give thought to

Tubeless puncture kit (i am looking for it - dont know where to get)
Foot air pump

First of all congrats Keviv for the Chev Spark. I have always found the spark to be a cute little car.

BTW Even i stay in Shivaji Park and i am a daily walker at the park. Hope i manage to see you driving sometime.

Can you give me the exact location of Auto King. I always purchase my accessories from Manmohan(near the junction at Raja Rani travels).

If you are on Cadel Road, you should reach Yes Bank, and get into the lane that is right opposite to the Bank (On other side of the Road). Going ahead in this lane, on the left side, at the corner is Auto King. Actually, that particular corner has quite a few auto accessory shops, of which I find Auto King always to be the busiest!
