congrats man. u got a great car there.

and dont worry about engine braking, its just a petrol engine world phenomenon.

diesels dont have engine braking unless u have special mechanisms installed like jake brake et al.

and howz the ride at low speed with such low profile tyres.

i have 185/65 potenza's in my crdi, the ride is pretty bumpy at low speed.

@maglev : the tyres are pretty good vfm, can't compare it to sdrives or potenzas as im not driving hard as of now. The tyres have performed very well during two three high speed cornering instances where we were tailing an i20 with 15" pp2. Ride quality and road noise is excellent till now. About the konigs, they costed me 32k for a set of 4 and they are 17x7J. Other thing i noticed, the rims fit perfectly on the wheel arches and are NOT protuding out even a lil bit. while taking a lock to lock turn in other cars with rims there is a clunk sound usually, it happens with my santro and a few of my friends cars too, but there is not sound like that here.

@undead : offcourse no rallying in 17"

@gagan : The ride is excellent and very smooth on good/descent roads, but bad roads brings u to a crawl! low speed ride is pretty ok not too bumpy. So gagan you recommend engine braking or not ?

@aza : You want to improve your braking in Getz ? Try to get aftermarket brakepads just like mine. I have installed EBC Ultimax Brakepads in my Getz and they are much better than the stock ones.

EBC Ultimax is just the stock-replacement model with lesser brake dust.
The EBC Greenstuff is the proper upgrade for braking.
I'll post a review on the EBC greenstuff soon.

@undead, Nitrous : Where are you getting these pads from ? any links? As of now i feel the braking lacks progression. The car stops, but it just doesn't feel like it wants to. Engine braking at lower rpms helps but i'm not too sure whether engine braking is recommended in a diesel !

@fast_elegance : thanx

Update : 1. the white beast has been ICE'D will be starting a separated thread on it soon.

2. I'm thinking of ordering seatcovers from AUTOFORM in offwhite and cocoa, this actually matches the interior colors. I have a set of sparco racing seats with extra cushioning But girlfriend and mom are against fitting them in the getz !!

@aZa - do use engine braking but do not slow down to a speed where the engine shakes violently and is on the verge of being stalled. diesels resist stalling quite a lot, they sort of fight back

AURTFORM are good, i guess kpzen's getz too have them. they gel with interiors.

so have the fun begun yet? or are you waiting for the run-in to end?

Gagan the fun has started in a way... the car has done 2800Kms and been to Karnal and back once. On the panipat flyway i touched 140ish. I haven't gone FLAT OUT yet and i do not plan to do that soon. The fun is in "in-gear" acceleration which is incredible What Mileage are you getting ? Im getting 14 in city with AC.

Gagan thats a extensive list!!! i see 18's and 17's ... nice !

Latest update : Cracked my windsheild :( Stone from another car hit the windsheild while doing 70-80kmph on DND. Then the bass from the ICE made the crack bigger.

@ aZa

Congratulations on your lil Devil

Am following your ICE thread and your setup does look great. I got my Getz D too on 20th Sept.

Sad to hear about the windsheild. As an aside, have you put any kind of film on the windshield..? Want to know if it could be covered under Insurance or not. Have put V-Kool and if I had to get it done again without insurance cover!! It would be a deadly blow to say the least!!

Which reminds me, i havent actually put up a ownership thread.

Hey the carz looking awesome and congrats.

My car is running on 205/50-15 and some times i think of downsizing for better ride quality. You said that ride quality is acceptable. I think i am expecting too much from my car .

Bapu : Yes i have llumar tints on the front glass thats why i'm :( i dont know about insurance. The crack isn't growing as yet so i'm in two minds on changing the glass.

djay99 : The ride quality is typical 17"s ... thud thud and all ... but having said that, on good roads its smooth as butter, on slightly bad roads its acceptable. But on potholed, post monsoon, totally broken roads its bad and basically u are in "save ur tyres + rim" mode ! but compared to swift on 17" the ride is much better and very acceptable. Maybe i had low expectations heheh.

sorry to hear that.

the same thing happened to me, after app about 2500 kms.

although in my case it was the driver side window mirror that cracked after being hit by a stone that flew from under a DTC bus.

BTW, from where did you got the sound dampening done? and for how much?

would you please let me know.

@gagan : I have posted the info about damping in the ICE section, i've used NOISEKILL and about 30Sqft has gone in till now. Rear panels are due for damping as and when i get a full day off.
