great buy!! i always loved the captiva! it captivates you :D. i love the double exhaust! its so awesome!
its an SUV which has to cool urban soft roader style quotient to it! and it looks like million bucks on 4 wheels. my other favorite is the outlander! CRV i am used to it!
Congrats mate ! with 80K difference, i guess Captiva-Automatic would be a good choice. You made a good decision.
Did a second TD of the fortunuer on Saturday, somehow the captiva (inspite of it being a Chevrolet = higher maintenance expense with lower resale value) tugs at the heart stronger. The Fortuner Interiors are too much like the Innova and PREVIOUS generation Corolla and hence look a bit dates inspite of the climate control. The vibrating knob took away from all the impact that the large tyres had one me. Overall Captiva excites more, and is reasonaby large.
Congrats, on your LTZ, I am driving a LT, done 14000kms approx, its a good SUV and the drive feel is excellent, except a few things which I miss out of my Octavia, specially the side view mirror heaters.
I got installed a rear view sensor system which is really required and helpful also comes cheap for 2500/- approx. Fail to understand why it is not a OE fitted.
Got a low beam Phillips Xenon installed.
Congratulations stero. How do you rate the AC? Curious to know how does AC reach the 3rd row? Some more internal pics of ac vents and other utilities please.

Yeah! It's the interiors and Auto Box that captivated me at this price.

I love Outlander - Awesome Interiors and RF sound system. If it would have been a diesel, I would have gone for it with my eyes closed!

Yeah! It's tough to cancel a Toyota Fortuner especially when the delivery time is less than 2 months! But I researched hard before the ultimate decision and I'm quite happy about it!

Interior space on offer is easily the best in this segment. Same applies for shoulder room. Since I'm gonna keep this vehicle for 5-6 years, I'm not too concerned about resale value as the initial price offering was too good for a fully loaded vehicle. Regarding maintenance, I'll continue to post my experiences!

That's surprising. Atleast it should have factory fitted sensors which cost about 2500! I have talked to them and they are ready to fix in 4 of those (same set in CRUZE) for Rs 4000.

AC is a chiller (as it should be). I really do not feel the need for 2nd and 3rd row vents. This AC cools the entire cabin in no time! I will post some pics (utility) soon.

The interior looks much better than the fortuner.

After the Fortuner effect on the price of Captiva, it is truely a value for money proposition. Though did not do a TD, I did check out the interiors in the showroom once in Mysore. Interior feels real plush. Disappearing last row seat are great and create a lot of usable space unlike most other SUVs where the folded seats intrude some how when you try to fit in that last piece of luggage on your holiday trip.
Could you give a brief about the handling and breaking please.

hey if you are into hardcore offroading get the fortuner. but if you are city slicker and drive it around town. and you don't wanna look (dehati type :p ) get yourself a captiva. end of argument.

Braking is excellent. It was tested by me accidentally when we were on our way back. Since this is my first ever Automatic vehicle after TATA INDICA, while slowing down normally, I applied breaks (mistaking them as clutch!) and the vehicle stopped in no time. There was Innova coming from back and she had a miraculous escape (courtesy of the active driver). I got away with this on 2 different occasions - Thanks god!
Regarding handling question, seriously I do not know enough how to answer this question but while cornering (as told by one of my friends), Captiva is better than Safari, Endeavour and Fortuner but not comparable to CRV. These are the ones I have test driven prior to buying Captiva.
Straight line stability is excellent too.

1-Testosterone, congrats on this purchase. is there also a 4x2 captiva? if so how much does it cost? also, what mileage would a manual version manage to give? 10kmpl?
you have also mentioned about the spark electric, is there any page on this forum that mentions its possible price or how it looks to be? and would that be an automatic too?
