Quotation from Chennai Ford

After an unpleasant experience with MPL ford, decided for go for a 2010 model, and I received a quotation today from Chennai ford -

Ex-showroom Chennai - Rs. 683,319 (32K approx corporate discount)
Insurance - Rs. 27,802
Regn & Life Tax & E.W - Rs. 69,196 (EW should be the 3rd yr dealer warranty)
Essential Pack & Waxoyl - Rs. 5,250
Price On Road - Rs. 785,567

OTR price is increased by 30K approx compared to 2009 model.

I wont be going with the Essential Pack & Waxoyl and probably get my own insurance. I suppose no offers for Jan so it remains to be seen how much more discount (if any) I can get.

@prabhuv,

There is an ad in the Times of India Mumbai of Fiesta limited edition 2010 model being sold for 5.63L ex-Thane and is available for 1.6L petrol model only and in limited cities. Pls check up in your city before U finalize.
We are not even into a fortnight inthe new year and Ford had already brought in its first limited edition. This should make into record books for sure 1) fastest ltd edition launch in a year 2) Most ltd editions ever launched by a motor company. This will ensure more Fiestas to be sold. More the merrier.

Car perfume

Friends,

I am in a dilema to choose a good car perfume. I am not comfortable with the regular Ambi pur ones since I will have to clip it on the Air vent. I had it in my earlier Santro and found it not lasting. Was looking for something which can be keptin one of the cubby spaces available near the gear stick. Can anyone suggest a good & lasting perfume please.
This weekend I will be buying the car mats and the perfume.

In the south the offer is on the diesel fiesta only. Same features @ 6.49L Ex-showroom.

The trend I see is to promote diesel in south india and petrol everywhere else.

Dont understand the logic of promoting Diesel in south, is Diesel cheap in south or the fact the most long distance driving are done in south. Our senior Fiesta BHPians can vouch for that i suppose.
Attached is the ad which appeared in today's TOI.

Traditionally diesel cars are patronised a lot in the south. IIRC the Esteem with peugeot diesel was available here even after it was stopped in the north. The Zen and the accent with the same engine also sold well here.
Even in my office, the diesel to petrol fiestas ratio would be 4:1

A petrol SX4 for eg. would find tooo little homes anywhere out of Chennai.

Suggest ask them to give detailed quotation i.e ask him to split
Regn & Life Tax & E.W- then you will come to know how much they are charging for each as many dealers charge more on the Regn fees and Life Tax (you can also check with RTO about percentage of Tax charged in TN. In kerala it is 6% of showroom price of the car).
Insurance -toooo high. Yes, you may take your own.

Based on TBHP members' recommendations, I bought a My Shaldan & am very happy with it. Costs 200, has a natural aroma, fits perfectly into the cup-holder & has lasted me 2.5 months already.
Here is a link.

Probably they might have checked their sales data, and found more diesel cars reported sold in south than north. This can also be a reason for promoting diesel cars in south and petrol version in north.
Also may be, they dont want to dump both the version in one market instead marketing regionwise i.e petrol in certain region and diesel elsewhere -some intelligent marketing

I am using Ambi pur and it last long (more than 2 months), but only thing is when during parking, especially in the night you need to close the top opening portion of the tiny bottle which means no vapour from the liquid comes out during such time.

@prabhuv,

Try to find the model internet price for your city on Ford website and add the Octroi charges if any applicable to your city. Once you have U'r base price then add the Registration charges applicable to your city and voila you have a price which would definitely be less than Ford dealer quoted price. Take Insurance on you own, should be less than 20K if taken online thru some insurers. Once you are done with this, then negotiate with dealer regarding the discounts, EW cost, accessories etc. You should be able to make a good deal out of this procedure. Browse thru this thread started by nairrk (Thanks a ton nair sir) and find out more details about you model. Be ready to cross question the dealer and make him aware that you are well versed with the car details so that he does not overcharge you. All the best.

This seems about right if the price increase is 30K. Is this SXi or S? I would suggest that you take the essentials and waxoyl. The essentials includes the original Ford mats etc and they are very good quality. Waxoyl will ensure that your car gleams like new for at least a year. May we know more about your bad experience at MPL Ford?

I bought Mr. Poppy. It sits in the parcel tray at the back between the two speakers. I like it much better than Ambi Pur. Ambi Pur makes me sick.
