My latest aquisition - Grand Vitara 2008

Hi All,

After a long wait, deliberation, weighing pros & cons etc etc.

I finally bought myself a GRAND VITARA 2008, with 16700 kms on the odometer. She is in Mint Conditon.

Except ofcourse for the customary scratches here & there. No dents, no repaint, no bodywork. Totally stock with just a lovely set of Black Leather seat covers, which makes it look so much nicer.

I found the seating very comfortable (which was among top priorities), driving position is great. Overall fit & finish is nice, definately not high end but nice. The leather covered steering feels good.

Initial driving impression is good, though no tarmac burner, it feels well balanced & has a planted ride.

The average it is returning is 7.7 kmpl. I guess that is normal for this vehicle. Having been spoilt by the Octavia, Viva CRDi, A4 (all diesels) I find this slightly hard to stomach, but that is ok. I really think it more than makes up for the fuel differential with the "initial cost" & the relatively cheap service of this vehicle.

The Audio system certainly needs an upgrade, but that will have to wait - till....

The only part that does not work is the cigarette lighter. It seems to have been replaced or repaired (can't say) but it does not quite look OE. So that is the only small niggle. The 24K service should take care of that.

The car has been regularly serviced & looked after fairly well. She is still riding on the Made in Japan Yokohama Geolanders OE. I think I'd go for an upsize once they've lived their life. I'd say an easy 10,000 kms.

Here are some snaps of the car !!

Cheers

Congratulations Ricky. Looks like clean example. Im assuming you got a sweet deal on this one. Is this an MT or an AT? Looking forward to a detailed review from you on this thread.

Drive safe

@Ricky: The car can easily pass off as a newly bought one. I see she has been maintained very well. Is this a MT or AT ? Going by your FE figures, I presume it is an AT.

More importantly, how much did you pick it up for? Congrats and drive safe.

Congrats Ricky! Looks like a very well maintained GV. But remember it can take lot of abuse without a sweat. It is an extremely sturdy car, probably more than all your earlier cars. So, don't treat it like a princess.

The 7.7kmpl is rather low unless it is an AT car.

Welcome to the club. Neat pictures.
And as Samurai said 7.7 is low. Check air pressure and test FE for both highway and city. Best figures are returned if you always keep rpm between 2000~2500. Change gears but try and not let the revs go lower than 2000.

Oh Great, thanks everybody for all the wishes & the feedback. Ya the 7.7 kmpl needs to be looked at, and this is a M/T. Guess I will check the tankful to tankful method, rather than relying on the AVG. displayed on the console. I am running 32 psi on all 4 wheels as reccomended on the driver door pillar sticker.

Thanks & keep the suggestions coming.

The car looks very clean. For a white car thats quite something. Is it an AT or a Manual? I assume she is still under warranty? Also is the front number plate dented?

Congrats on the Ricky. It does look like a new one.

Pardon my ignorance but does it sport the 164 Ps 2.4 Litre VVT engine?
