I wonder why the extra Rs.5xx for changing the oils & filter at 1st service for you? Check http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1630358-post161.html - the total bill of Rs.2005 included a bottle of windshield washer fluid for some Rs.1xx. I presume the gearbox/TC oils were not changed, since the manual doesn't recommend it.

vraghuz,

Congrats on your Hawk. I have opened up another thread for my VLX AT 2WD with more or less the same subject. It wasn't an attempt to plagiarize. Strangely, I had never read your post (astonishingly so). Anyway with due apologies I can claim "great minds think alike".

Hope you are enjoying the beast

As per my discussion with M&M Service guys, they don't recommend any kind of diesel or engine oil additive. The ASC guys try to add all this to make some money out of us hapless souls.

Raghuz
A/C neutralizer - you already got fungus in your vehicle?

Did they say something like we will make sure that you never get bad smell in your car so please pay 575 INR onlee.

I don't think you'll have fungus so early. The way to avoid Fungus in the cooling coil is run switch off the A/C but let the blower run 2 to 3 minutes before reaching the destination. You can also use the heater for 10 minutes every 15 days or so and you should be alright. And all this costs much lessser than Rs 575

Engine Care is that supposedly waterproof lacquer kind of coating that they want to apply to your engine to (supposedly again) keep all the electrics dry in water and maintain a shine on the engine (till the next application). I was offered that too (same price, Rs.600), but I turned it down vehemently - esp. since I don't like unknown stuff smelling strongly of solvents to coat rubber parts.

AC Neutralizer is something like your fridge deodorant - a little box which God alone knows contains what. Supposed to prevent odours etc. in the car due to stale air when AC is in recirculation mode. Again, I didn't bother to get it. However, I got the fellows to demonstrate how to clean out the AC particle filter which lives behind the glove box. It was choked up when the car went for 1st service, but I'm glad it's there, otherwise the cooling coil (evaporator) gets to collect that muck and chokes up, needing open-heart surgery on the dashboard plus a gas charge every 3-4 years (hopefully that filter will delay the process by 2-3 years).

These guys are a rip off man. Next time tell them that you won't pay for anything not specified by Mahindra for the specific service.
