Whoa! Thats some shot-taking! :Shockked:

I for one would have baulked at sitting cramped in the boot of a hatchback, with the hatch open and then still trying to take those beautiful pics. Superb, Rudra!

And thanks to both again for bringing this wonderful experience to us. The time invested and stolen from regular life is much appreciated clap:

Awesome write up and great pics. Something that we have come to expect from Rudra anyway :p

Thanks for giving us the pleasure!

One question: Why do you say that Linea needs a bigger engine when it is quite comfortable doing 140 kmph?

Linea needs a bigger engine to pull that weight effortlessly. Reaching 140 takes some time for Linea. In fact it goes much more than 140. This is there on the very fast post of this thread..

The roads leading from Ahmedabad are an absolute driver’s delight, as soon as you enter the toll roads you are greeted with super smooth 4-lane tarmac. Jaggu is going aggressive with the throttle, but it took him a while to figure out the throttle though. Initially the car was losing steam by 140 kph. The pedal is super hard and that gives the feeling that engine has hit a brick wall with revs. He is realizing it now - the trick is to stomp on them hard, from that point onwards. Linea speeds are now climbing, touching 160 and moving on to 180 kph.

Yup engine is pretty decent and carries the bulk around quite well, but when it comes to spirited acceleration, one has to really work the engine and gearbox to get that speedo to climb. Yup it touched 180 kmph on the speedo 2-3 times with lil bit of effort.

The car is really heavy and hence a bigger heart would definitely help, i wouldnt be surprised if the bigger diesel gives a better overall FE with some minor gearing tweaks.

That 1.3 Multijet engine has a big 'heart'. 1300+ kgs plus passengers to pull and stil it does 180 kmph! I wonder what the 1.6 Multijet would do. C'mon FIAT!

Watermarking the pics would've been a good thing to do , maybe it can still be done.

The pilot car was tuned a bit different right? A Pete's box or its get VGT ?

And did you find the ground clearance as an issue ?

I don't think so jk. And VGT as in Linea power plant? Again I don't think that was the case. But why do say that?

Ground clearance wasn't an issue. But again, we didn't cross any seriously bad patch.

So there are 4 cars and one blue Punto for him to act as pilot car. Same engine but in different states of tune.
Did I interpret it wrong?

Oh, like that? What I meant was 1.3 Multijet with different set up for all four cars. Same engine - different ECU configurations - change in gearbox (construction/ratio)

These fiat beauties look amazing. I was a Fiat fan from the days of the Fiat Palio with Sachin Tendulkar's signature. I never cared for how Fiat cars actually are. All I cared for was that they were that they are the makers of Ferrari. I loved the Palio when I drove it. Linea did dissappoint me a bit. Punto is a thing of art.

@Maximum_torque: What was your dissapointment with Linea? Underpowered?

My sis & bro just got there new Punto Multijet, after seeing my palio multijet and the drive is awesome, very smooth with incedible power indeed.

I love driving the car and enjoy the uniqueness in the road full of santro's,i10,swifts :)

Its an able succesor to the old Fiat war horse Palio

Awesome write up Rudra and Jaggu.clap:. Was just browsing and picked up the post and read it completely, and it's worth the time spent

I've always heard of fiat's suspension and handling & have driven the palio only. I've right away asked for the TD of Linea, let me see. I love the exterior look of the car, and if it handles well would definitely pick it up.

Only one thing though! the engine, as most of them suggest, that 1.3 multijet is really small for that car. This is what is stopping me for now. The day they announce anything higher, will definitely book the car. I'm not sure how long would that be :Frustrati, fiat are you listening.

Thanks Laxminarayan, glad that you liked our report :)

Test driving the car is a good idea, its ok car if you are not a power freak. The torque compensates for the lesser power output. Bigger diesel, i think we will have to wait for a year atleast, my guess.
