Ovion, 3M, JBL Equipped FIAT Punto!!!

I was looking for a hatch (and basically a car) in June, so i went to check out the i20 (not the CRDI), Jazz, Fabia & the Punto. I quickly scratched the Fabia & the Jazz of off my list. Jazz was a tad on the higher $$ and the Fabia was showing it's age (let's not even get into their AS$).

Checked out the i20 (non CRDI) and was told it's CRDI version was going to get launched, so i waited. Went to check out the Punto at Malik Cars, and not suprisngly no one even cared to show me the car around (test drive was out of the question). Went to Malik Cars (FIAT-TATA) again the second and the third time and i still couldn't get a test drive. I was kind of pissed with their "Saar test drive vehicle not available." Meanwhile Lakshmi Motors (Hyundai) had called me that their i20 CRDI had just launched and i could come and check it out. Went there and test drove the vehicle. The car was really refined and it's gear box was really slick and smooth. The power response was as expected (i have a Verna) really good. I didn't like it's ride quality, low seating position, low ground clearance and most importantly it's super light steering. Overall left Hyundai quite impressed with the i20.

Two days later i got a call from Malik Cars that Punto's test vehicle was available. I quickly went there and test drove the vehicle. Was really impressed with the ride and the seating position. The engine noise was louder than the i20 and the pick up was really shocking. Left Malik Cars thinking the car was so so. Over the next few weeks i was still evaluating between which out of the two to bring home. Sadly our Octavia was totalled, so i was left without a car at home. Dad quickly said to make a decision and i went with the Punto.

Went to Malik Cars the next morning and asked where their stock yard was. I looked for nice Red MJD Emotion Pk car and could only find one. In the meantime we got our bank loan sanctioned within hours (Vijaya Bank ). I paid the D.D at 2:00 PM on Oct 12 after doing the PDI and by 6:00PM, i was handed the keys with a box of chocolate.

As i pilled on the KM's, the car freed up significantly. I got the engine oil changed at 3000KM.

Here are some of the pictures...

I got the following accessories for my car...

JBL (400W): I Paid Rs 5000 for Oval speakers and the sound is really good. I think i'll stick with stock speakers as the Oval speakers have added the bass factor that the stocks don't.

Number Plate:
I paid a little over Rs 1500 for the number plate and i like the font and the laser inscription on the plate. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed as the plate is kind of greyish white.

3M Sun Film:
I paid a little under Rs 4500 for 3M (CS 20). I'm kind of happy with the film except the 3M logo on the film. I wish i could remove the 3M logo.

Ovion Leather Upholstery:
This took the most time and effort. I finally selected a leather style after seeing quite a few styles. I'm happy with the stitch and fitting. I paid around Rs 16500 for the seat covers and Rs 500 for the gear boot.

I'll need to get a wooden plank soon as the speakers are quite heavy.

Looks like GTO948 to me.

Nice ride. Congrats. Drive safe.

You wouldnt be doing justice to those speakers unless you have a amp driving them (and with the Punto Emo Pack, that is the tricky part).

From my last 8000 kms with it, I would suggest a set of components for this red beauty.

Nice set of pics.
The interiors quality look good, but the rotated snaps made me dizzy! Can you straighten a few and post them.
Enjoy your ride. I personally like the metallic colors on the punto better than the red, but somehow your car looks great to!!

How's the Garmin GPS that you have? Are the maps accurate? And aren't those tints too dark for our Indian laws

Congrats on your purchase and wish you many more kms in your car. How much did you pay for the Oil change at 3000 Kms and what kind of oil was used - synthetic or mineral oil. Can you provide some info.
