Finally got Punto'd ! (Booked Emotion Pack - Red)

Ok, this is my first thread on TEAM-BHP and considering the fact that I have been a member for a loooongg while it surely is overdue.

I have just booked my first car - a Red Fiat Punto Emotion pk from Sanya Motors, Def Col., Delhi ! Right at the start of this thread I'd like to thank ALL my fellow Team-Bhp'ians for all the information, ownership data, reviews, pics etc. Without you guys making this choice would've been a tough (read:half hearted) call!

I would really like to thank GTO for his superb and objective test-drive / review of the Punto! It was his review that made me actually take notice of this car. Like every petrol head I have always dreamt of booking my first car (which a year back I thought would be a Swift) and now that the time's finally come... Here goes...

Why I chose the Punto Emotion Pk :

- LOOKS GORGEOUS!
- Hatch back with all the equipment from a car way above its segment !
- Fiat build quality !
- Adequate space and utility factor (I'am single and plan to be for a while )
- Good high speed handling and drive characteristics
- The Blue and Me / Climate Control convenience
- Safety Rating
- Overall VFM
- For once an Indian car with the right tyres (not to mention those SWEET rims! )
- Last but definitely not the least
- A Beautiful Engine (1.4 - 90 Bhp is good for me for now in Delhi traffic... is adequate power... the 1.6 is in the Palio was a guzzler!)

The things I was iffy / skeptical about :

- this one has to be a classic on this topic now

- FIAT Service and after sales ! - VW Polo being a better option than the Punto

- Underpowered engine

- Boot space ( We also have an Altis and a City VTEC...so was not v worried if reqd.)

- Moving to a hatch after driving a 2004 1.6L Hyundai Accent (This is a hand me down) for over a year

Finally all my doubts were swept away after I test drove the Punto. The lines on the car, the feel of the 1.4 Smoothness and all the equipment made me take out my cheque book and lock it down ! The polo may be a good car but I was using one in the UK last year for a week and I think the Punto is at par if not better !
I also considered the Ford Fusion S which I test drove but the Punto just swept me away...

One of the things I spent some time pondering over was the colour, I think that the Medium Grey is fantastic (Dad said it was nice but boring for a small car!), I initially decided on the black but our H City is black and I know how tough that is to maintain...Bossa Nova white was nice too but not me... so I finally decided to go for the obvious and the hottest - SPANKING RED ! (and that my friends is what the colour should be called ! )

After reading all the reviews I plan to go for the following MOD's :

- Might change the ICE speakers,v imp. factor for me

- Want good seat covers, Stanley IS WAYYYY to expensive... Anyone got cheaper options I may pick up in Delhi (pics please)

- 3M light tints

- maybe with a slight green tinge

Later after the warranty is over :

- K & N Air filter

- White alloys and front grille (or black) - Mods to the engine for more power

- if possible a decent body kit - high end exhaust

- LED in the main headlight frame... i saw this in a Punto yday and it looked AUDI hot!

PLEASE SENDS ME PICS / LINKS FOR THE ABOVE. SPECIALLY FOR THE SEAT COVERS !

I wouldn't want to go into too much detail now,the Punto is already a very well discussed topic on the site... I just wanted this to be my first post and share what for an unsatisfied petrolhead like me is a... very emotional moment!

Pics soon...

Cheers !

$

Ok guys, now to get down to the number crunching. I need to finalise the financing option for the car. I'am getting the car for 6.15 OTR. I'am planning to pay 2L down payment (Booking amount was Rs.25,000) and finance the rest.

In any circumstance I don't want cross an EMI of Rs.9,000 a month.

The guys at Sanya are offering me from thier finance guys (havent specified which one they have a tie up with) a 10.5% rate on a loan of 4 L.

Please give me ur opinion on this....

Thanks....
