The first Pic looks like Wagon R not Estilo, again they are from 2 different segment Wagon R/Alto is in B segment, and Fiesta is B+....

So the Figo is actually the previous generation European Fiesta.

Its a FIGO and not a FIESTA.

Could be a Wagon R . Does not matter as both Wagon R and Estilo are almost the same Size. The idea was not to compare the cars but to give an idea about the actual size of the FIGO. From the pictures the FIGO seems to be in the same category as the SWIFT as far as the size goes and if it is priced at 3.5 L for the base version as someone was suggesting, then it sure seems a good deal.

But it seems to be spec'd right for B/B+ segment wrt safety. I guess the ACC is the only major missing feature compared to the Beat. Again pricing will be the key to justify buying the Figo.

VW and Ford seem to be playing a game of cat & mouse for the last few months waiting to see who will bite first and announce variants+prices.

Sankar, despite all Ford's claims of this being a new platform, and so on, its actually the old Fiesta hatch. Look at the spy pics which John and myself had clicked in Chennai a long time back, when the car was being tested! It even had a masked tag which said Fiesta. :D

Agreed that Ford have taken cues from last gen Fiesta which was quite successful in many market. You cannot straight away say that this is a dumped model please:

Ford has totally re-skinned the vehicle and kept the vehicle development cost low as lost cost was identified as a critical success factor for cost competitive markets like India.

Ford made this low cost model by achieving a high localization of components, shared parts with existing Fiesta bins, leveraging the strengths of the outgoing Fiesta Chassis. FIGO is specifically tropicalised to suit Indian conditions and also for exports to African countries.

Hence we expect this car to be quite well priced as GM Beat has already done. Such aggressive price can be a bench mark for all the others to follow.

Well it is indeed a discontinued model with a facelift.

What have they done to tropicalize it, other than remove some of the options available in Europe and add a few cosmetic mods.

Howver it has been tropicalized or not, dont you agree it is a worthy contender for the segment its aimed at? Going by GTO's review, it surely rides well, and offers good interior space. Also, the diesel mill is proven. For the family crowd, what more is lacking?

Whats wrong in bringing a previous model from Europe here? All it matters is weather its a good car for the price we pay. For the B+ segment, we can not expect a all new India specific model given the numbers sold.

I was just pointing out a fact. I'm not saying the car is bad. We just have to see how the spares are priced. I don't think they will be able to match Maruti, Hyundai & Tata.

Yes they may not be able to match spare for the above vendors going by the difference in volume. But even today, the gap is not that much. The maintenance and spare cost of a Fiesta, Verna and SX4 wouldn't have major difference.
