Speedo incorrect?

Is that why I saw 155kmph with 3 on-board with a/c running over a 3-4 kms stretch?stupid:

between Fiesta and Figo since wheel size is same, and VSS measures wheel rpm and then converts that to speed, results must be similar (unless ford was up to something funny).

One request - can you let us know whether the odometer matches the GPS?

speed is a time-derivative of distance travelled, noise gets amplified when you take a derivative.

Distance measurement is more likely to be immune to such effects.

A friend of mine connected his HTC android phone to my cars blutooth, and before he selected to play the songs, the head unit picked up all the songs from his phone and started playing them. I could even use the next and previous buttons on the headunit to change the songs. We selected a particular song on the phone and played it thinking the headunit will stop the song it was playing and play our selected song, all it did was to play both songs together literally, both song at a time. Then he told me that his phone has winamp installed and may be thats why the headunit picked up the songs.
Note: the headunit did play the song in the same order as the one in winamp.

has this happened to anybody ?
and is it true about the winamp pairing up to headunit ?

Sorry, my GPS software does not have an odo. It does calculate the distance to destination.
I've crossed 160 kmph, speedo indicated but GPS put it at 147 kmph.

Folks....just got my Titanium serviced from Harpeet Ford Gurgaon on Saturday....being the 1st service, I was all over the service centre and service guys....one I noticed peculiar...the service engineer poured the coolant in 2 places under the hood...he raised the bonnet.... above the right wheel arch, next to the battery, he opened a white pipe sort, topped up the coolant and then again above the left wheel arch..there's a triangular plastice box(with pink liquid), he opened this too and poured the same into it....also...another observation...this so called coolant was frothy seemed like soap solution with lots of bubbles.... this made me curious...upon asking, the service guy told me to back off and relax as apperently that area was out of bounds for customer...!!!!

Today while driving on the stretch from BTM Layout to JP Nagar, a stone chip fell on the roof of my car from a flyover.:Frustrati

Now the car has a dent on the roof although i think the minor scratches can be handled with a touch up.

Felt sad though. Now mostly i'll take the car to the body shop and ask for an estimate and then take a call.

The white pipe with a blue cover (near battery) has wind sheild wash liquid and the triangular box with yellow cover (pink liquid) is the coolant. If the service guy has poured the same thing in the coolant box, get the system cleaned immediately.

Hmmmm my bad!! I was thinking that power available at shaft is distributed between a/c load. So you mean to say no matter what the load is, a certain speed is achieved always at a certain RPM?

RPM at the shaft (measured by tacho) and RPM at the wheels (which is your vehicle speed divided by circumference of the front tyres for a FWD) are directly related by gear ratio

As long as clutch is fully engages, no matter how much power, how much torque how much load you have, for a given speed in a given gear, the tacho reading will be same.

I had a similar issue couple of days back. I use iphone 3G with the system and use it extensively - both for phone calls and songs. My connection is through BT.

I was looking through my playlist and choosing songs, when I recieved a phone call. I hit the 'attend' button on the music system - at this time the system was playing the music and was also took the call. This is was the first and only time it happened. I guess like any system it has its bugs. But in general the BT connection and the swap between phone/music has been great!

Mustang 101 -I just wish Ford could put some pressure on the music system vendor to rectify the bug which causes music to auto switch on after a phone call. It is very annoying esp. since I take upto 10 calls each way on my commute.


Thanks Vina for the explanation. This makes perfect sense ..now thinking aboutt it. For some reason, I always used to think with higher load, the same RPM will have lower speed but now it is clear. I guess with higher load, the RPM (& hence speed) will automatically reduce if the engine is not able to cope up with the load at that gear.


Mustang 101 - It is great news that 1 lakh Figos have been sold. With the success of the Fiesta and the Figo, Ford has become a main stream car manufacturer in India. My question/Concern is around how Ford is planning on servicing this number of cars presently on road + future. Are there any plans to increase service network? I am guessing if one wants to be a volume vendor then servicing capacity is key. Currently, atleast in S.India, this is the scenario:

- Many big/medium size cities have only 1 Ford service center. There are always problems around getting appointments etc. Also, the lack of competition makes the dealer very complacent. Case in point - the addition of a new Tata dealer in my city totally changed the attitude of the existing dealer.

- No small town/small city here has a Ford dealer. So every Ford owner in the nearby towns have to come to the big cities for service - this further burdens the already heavily loaded dealers.

Would appreciate if you could share or illuminate on how Ford plans to ramp up its service network. Thanks!

1. Auto switch on of music after a call is desirable. I did not get what you were saying so i will repeat the sequence of events for you if i got it right.

a) Music is on
b) Phone rings and music switches off and you attend the call
c) After the call is done, music starts again

If this was the sequence of events then i think it is desirable as you do not need to again press a button to resume the track.


2. New dealerships are being planned in cities/towns and will be opening very soon. As far as i can see the real rush problem is in big cities where as the people in smaller cities that have a ford dealership are enjoying pretty good service. However, there will be a lot of complaints (like you mentioned) in these small cities if the dealership owner thinks that he is a monarch ;)

Hi Mustang,

The Sequence I describe is as below -

a) Music is Off.
b) Phone rings and you pick up the call
c) Finish talking and hang up
d) Music automatically switches On

I think most Figo owners have confirmed this bug. I turn the system off manually, the next phone call comes and then the music turns on again (if you your volume higher for the phone call, then the music blasts out after the call :) ) . It is not a problem but a major annoyance for people who use the BT a lot. Thanks!

Ok, Is this the same situation in all Figos?
If it is then it is definitely a poor design by the company.

I have never ever operated Bluetooth on a Figo. Just played CDs on it.
Waiting for your reply and then i will forward this accordingly.

To the best of my Knowledge it is a problem with ALL Figo's. I have seen several complaints on this topic in T-BHP. I would let the other viewers/ members re-confirm it.
