NO the Steering is very normal, maybe something wrong with your car? There was a power steering hose recall, did your get this changed?

2. Clutch feels quite heavy too compared to the Scorpio.
I have driven the diesel figo and the clutch wasn't that heavy.

3. Bluetooth works for a minute after starting up and then collapses.
No idea about this.

1. change the horns
good idea.

2. replace the lights to a 90/100 kit (do you recommend changing the wiring harness as well - roots make);

I would not recommend this, upgraded your bulbs to 90/100 can damage your head lamp assembly.

1. Change engine oil and filter
2. Replace air filter (do you recommend moving to a better filter - might get a RD box)
No, no use the stock air filter is more than enough.

3. Replace the pollen/HVAC filter
4. Head to Madhu's for an alignment and rotation job.

Can folks recommend the best Service center for the Ford Figo in Bangalore and an SA they trust/have a relationship with who I could use? You could PM me their numbers so i could call them directly and have a word with them.

Wary of just walking into a center and talking to some dude

One more. Has anyone put the sump guard for their figo? How much does it cost from the service center vs outside? Is this a genuine ford accessory? Or a third party brand?
AFAIK there is nothing like this available for the figo.

Remember it all depends how has the driver so far used the car. Generally though, the Figo has the below characteristics

I have not driven a Scorpio, but the steering feels heavier than most EPS systems like the Swift, City, Amaze etc.

2. Clutch feels quite heavy too compared to the Scorpio.

Should not be

3. Bluetooth works for a minute after starting up and then collapses.
Could be a problem with the phone rather than the system - I have never ever had any problems with Bluetooth (and multiple phones)
Try using a different phone first.

I am going to:

1. change the horns
A lot of guys do - I haven't; don't like earth shattering sound

2. replace the lights to a 90/100 kit (do you recommend changing the wiring harness as well - roots make);

Not recommended

At the Service center:
1. Change engine oil and filter
2. Replace air filter (do you recommend moving to a better filter - might get a RD box)
3. Replace the pollen/HVAC filter
4. Head to Madhu's for an alignment and rotation job.
-No answers for the above, sorry

My ever reliable service center has been Cauvery Ford, do check it out. I have not gone outside so far.

Is it possible to replace the Figo's rubber mounts with hydraulic engine mounts, as it is in the Fiesta classic?

Yes I have driven a Scorpio and own a Figo, The steering is heavier in Figo at parking speeds.

2. Clutch feels quite heavy too compared to the Scorpio.
This is also true.

My 2 bits... Answers above in bold.

Instead you can go for OSRAM NB+ of same wattage - H4 12V 60/55W, there is no additional wire / relay change, just replacing the bulbs. I found the result very good (mine is 2011 model).

Also, once I observed reading light going on/off for 3-4 times after I stopped the car.

Has anyone in the group experienced this issue? Any advise?

I haven't personally experienced this issue, but you may want to check the battery condition. This happened in my Swift (EPS & ABS icon was flashing & not going off even after switching on the engine). Battery was the culprit, changed it & no issues.

You cannot replace the rubber mounts with the hydraulic ones. Checked with an SA few months ago. I believe, the hydraulic mounts are the reason for better NVH levels in the Classic.

The Figo has an HPS system, hence it feels a bit heavier than EPS system. But the feedback at high speeds is like no other.

Thank you all!

Captain Slow, could you tell me which year/month was the power steering hose retrofitted for the Figo's?

And why do you advise not to move to better bulbs? Warranty issues? Or is the headlight reflector that inferior? It can't be. We're given such low wattage bulbs because of archaic RTO rules from the 1950's where cars were not capable of going more than 50 km/h. I am sure the reflectors can handle this and more.

Do you have a regular SA you interact with in Cauvery? Could you PM me please?

Okay, so it wasn't just a feeling then. Jeez. Still I would like to try someone else's figo just to compare.

Thank you! I'll check this out. I had lovely results with Philips Rallye 90/100 bulbs on the Scorpio along with a new wiring harness - absolutely no problems for over 50k kms.

Highway feedback is brilliant. Doing sweeps at over 100 km/h brings a smile to the face a-la the Fiat's. Though I must say that the steering is even heavier than the Fiat! Only a manual Jeep beats this weight.

Any ECU firmware updates for the Figo in the past 2 years you guys remember of?

...

I switched to 90/100 bulbs within 6 months of buying my Figo. After 2 years of using those bulbs, I noticed minute cracks in the perspex headlight cover originating on the inside surface. I had to change my headlight units, and switched back to 55/60W. But this time, I used Osram Night Breaker plus bulbs. They offered better visibility in city conditions, low beam illumination is sufficient for up to 60kmph. And for the highway, I fitted aux lamps.

It's not 'a bit' heavier but significantly heavy than almost all EPS cars. I have never compared it to a HPS though. As said above, at Parking Speeds, the Figo steering is heavy.
However, as you say, the feedback it gives once you decent speeds is brilliant and again not like anything I have driven so far.
It's safe to say that Figo has made me a fan of the HPS systems!

Sending you a PM.

ECU - I believe there was one update which 'supposedly' positively affected the car.

There is one ECU firmware upgrade which was released for the infamous stalling issue. If your Figo is suffering from the stalling issue, you should have the ECU firmware updated asap.

I am not sure if there has been any other firmware upgrades.

I believe HPS are almost certainly heavier than EPS, but its not like they are non power assisted heavy. They are manageable & may take time to get used to if you are coming from an EPS.

Not sure what this stalling issue is about but yes I do manage to stall it when I take off from 1st gear once in a while. Is that it?

I have used Philips X-treme Vision H4 12V 60/55W - (yellow light, not white light) - Quite similar to Osram NB mentioned by others.
I feel this has definitely improved the illumination and combined with Fog lamps, is adequate for most city/highway drives. (Mine is 2012 pre-facelift Figo)
Costs around 1.2k for a set and avoids issues of a separate relay/cut out.

This specific stalling in Figo happens when you are downshifting & have the clutch depressed. It happens frequently in affected cars I believe.

If you are not sure whether your ECU firmware is upgraded or not, a visit to the SA will clarify.
