Please surf through the Safari 2.2 technical queries/issues whenever you are free. There's lot of enlightening info. over there, hehe.

The gear shift too, i recollect, has been discussed in that thread. Anyways, the quickest workaround is to do a quick shift to 2nd gear, and slot back to 1st (of course, with the clutch depressed).

Cheers, and wishing you many kms of happy motoring!
Thanks for the input Kamath.
Yes that was I did. Shift to second then to first.. As in the good old Amabssador I am sure the first service will fix this.

Don't be surprised. Of all of Tata's products, the Sumo is the only one to have received an "excellent" rating for reliability.

Congrats on the Grande! Drive safe, and do update your report as the odometer climbs.

P.S. : Where are the customary pictures?

GTO. I took a couple of them which I am uploading now.. These are of exteriors and taken at sunset, therefore the color varies from picture to picture.
I will post the interiors after the coming week end.

Congratulations Arul. Also any pictures on interiors?

Please keep us all posted with your experience. How did you find the interiors? Likes and dislikes?

I basically find it the UV for somebody who doesn't mind discreteness (Sumo badge is an advantage here!) and need something not too expensive to drive around.

It looks fantastic. You gotta give it to the Tata Motors. Off late, their designs have been pretty impressive. Xenon, Aria and Grande MK II.
Please post some pics of the interiors too.

Congratulations Arul on your new ride.

A stupid question though, why not consider Safari (may be the base version) over Sumo Grande?
Both of them carry the same engine and deliver similar output figures on FE/Performance.
personally i feel the oomph factor is more for Safari

I took extensive test rides of safari before i "again" decided for Linea. The turbo noise (spooling) was largely audible while accelerating. I also felt that the transmission noise was predominant. To add to it, the wind noise made matters worse. So dropped the idea and instead went for Linea.

How do they compare in Sumo vis-a-vis safari?

AFAIK it doesnot come with blackend pillars. Those should be aftermarket stickers. Arul correct me if I am wrong please.

If TATA can offer Grande with
--ABS
--Dual AirBag
--Small improvment in intorior design
--optional 4*4
--some Bell & Whistle

Then even so called big reliable, best SUV/MUV can struggle for numbers per month. The comfort level is near to safari and its a VFM car.

Kalinga,

I read else where in another thread Grande being tested for ABS.
IMHO Grande's Key drawback is its Dash board which SHOO Away many.
Full console box between fron seats & bottle holders on rear door pockets are much needed for a family MUV.
Offering Manza steering with audio controls will be great on Grande.

Oh! thats good news. TATA should offer ABS & Air Bags on top model and at least keeps as an option in lower model. Then Grande will be a hot fav.
