My 320d was averaging about 8 to 8.5 kmpl in Chennai city traffic for the first 1000 kms.

Now at 3500 kms, she is returning an average of 9.5 kmpl in city traffic.

BMW service chaps tell me that after 7000 kms, the average should move closer to 12 kmpl
12 in the city is highly unlikely for the 320d to return.
My 525d returns around 8.5kmpl in the city and 13 on the highway, which is very good considering it's a v6. The 320d should give better FE.

Just a quick question : What's the price difference between 320d highline and the base 5 series (530d I guess) ?

the 520d is the base model. the difference between the 320d highline and the 520d is about 5 lacs i think. not much really.

saw ur aftermarket alloys and tubeless rubber. looks gr8. just wanted to ask u how the ride quality is on 17 inch rubber ... better than 16inch RFT ? do u have a spare tyre in the boot ? or u r lucky not to get a puncture yet ?
no puncture yet. i keep a pressure pump in my boot all the time.

the ride on 17" wheels is probably slightly better than 16RFT's, if not the same.

biggest reason to change the wheels was i didnt like the OE design at all.

I know Sahil, the BMW chaps are over-optimistic.

I would expect the 320d to return close to 10 kmpl in city traffic.

Sex on wheels man.

Why exactly would you want 10+ kmpl when you have a car like that? We keep our 320D well below 7 kmpl.

Just missed this thread, by far this is the most exciting BMW I have ever driven .This car has an endless pit of power, with handling to match and the driver also requires some skill to tame it ,which Nirmal has in plenty.
BTW,hows your car doing after plonking the K&N filter?

Well K&N has made the car even more punchier . Just changed to tubless tyres from RFT and the ride is so much better. I have used the Conti premuium cotact 2 . they are not xtreme performance tyres but is a good compromise between perf and comfort , grip levels are very good too.

Please see the March Issue of Car India for performance fig.

Since petes tested the cars he has mentioned that my car has a tuning box , but it isnt a box but a remap. the best think i noticed is that hte car is quicker than his claimed 300bhp vRs.

0-100 7.6sec
0-140 14.02 sec
quatermile - 15.54sec/147km/hr
That is 530d quick

@ sriny: It's an instantaneous fuel consumption meter, and it actually reads "l/100km".
