Again they added some additional wiring kit. But this time no paper work for it. Was assigned a new S.A and he did not know what it was for.
He just told me its a wiring kit that ford has given for some cars.

Oil and oil filter replaced.
Removed and refixed the rear plastic panel which was making cracking noises.

Bill came to Rs 900.00 Including taxes.

Good job by Metro ford. They did a very good job on my car.
The car feels new again. No more rattling/creaking sounds.
Engine feels a lot smoother after the oil change.

Next service due at 20,000KM or 12 months. Will mostly get the oil changed at 15,000KM just to keep the engine and myself happy

Spoke too soon, Right door rattle is back

Car pulls well.
Engine feels smooth and peppy.
Gear shifts have become butter smooth.

All the pleasure of driving a new car is taken away by the awful service centres and their staff. As someone rightly said they can never hear any of the noises and they even politely ask you to come back if you have problems

Read about my problem on this thread and will give you an idea of the frustration I'm going through.

Loved the donkey braying joke. Too hilarious.

Fuel efficiency is the biggest drawback of the petrol 1.2 Figo, when petrol prices are heading north it really pinches for sure.

I agree that fixing rattles is difficult however if the problem is isolated then you can try to dampen it with some sound deadening material else have to live with it.

Re: Black Donkey 1.2 Exi Figo finally delivered! 10,000 kms update

@ Captain Slow and other members,

Is the fuel efficiency that low ?

Can it be attributed to the driving style as in do you guys drive in regions beyond the 2K RPM mark ?

I actually booked a White Lxi 1.2 for my dad on the 27th March.

The options that I had were:

1) Beat - Aggressively priced, but the looks were too radical for my dad who has just retired from work.

2) Santro - After all the discounts the GL Plus was being offered for 3.77L OTR. Made no sense as there is news of the Santro being discontinued with the HA coming up.

3) Estilo, Wagon R - Did not make much sense, there are rattling issues with my Swift, these would be terrible.

4) i10 - Era with Epsilon engine after all discounts was being quoted @ 4.10L OTR.

So Figo was the best option considering the following facts:

1) My dad is going to drive 600-700 KM/Month.
2) I got the Figo Lxi for - 3,88,500 OTR.
3) I had a limited budget of 3.5 - 4L.

guys please let me know if I have made the right call.

Happy Motoring !!

Hi Torquedo,

Ideally this should have been discussed in the "What car" section, but at the risk of highjacking Captain's thread let me give my opinion.
Since you have mentioned that the car is for your dad, I would assume he test drove the cars himself (?).
Most petrol Figos on the forum have been reporting a mileage of 10-11 in the city with A.C. on. So be prepared for that. Also the performance would not be too exciting with the A.C. ON and 2-3 passengers on board.

From the list you considered, I would look more towards the i10, mainly due to the easy ingress-egress (for elderly user!), more mileage in the city (14?), and better peace of mind in terms of A.S.S. That said, Figo is absolute VFM, no doubt on that, but to add to that I would prefer the ZXi trim over the LXi, you loose quite a handful of useful features if you go for the LXi. I know you are on a tight budget, as we all are while on a purchase, but just my 2 cents. I would give i10 and edge over Figo here, if the 1.2 VTVT, then the better.

Update -

Crossed the 500KM mark today.
Engine seems to more rev happy than what it was.
I was planning to fit an armrest on my Ritz. Do you have any contact of the Ritz owner who got the arm rest fitted?

Re: Black Donkey 1.2 Exi Figo finally delivered! 10,000 kms update

@ Captain_Slow,

I had been following your thread for quite long period. Before going for test drive of Figo the title of thread was lingering in my Mind "Black Donkey". Since I was interested in Diesel, SR gave me TD of Titanium version. After the TD I felt that "Donkey" analogy doesn't suit Figo at all. May be Petrol Figo has sluggishness of "Donkey" but found TDCI to be pulling strongly, overall built to be strong, looks are royal and moves enough fast, So I felt that a "Lion" analogy will suit Figo much better.

Recently I have booked TDCI ZXI white and waiting for delivery. Following your style for naming the Car, I have decided to name my Car as "White Lion", and opted for same Nick.

Hi Captain Slow! Any updates on this thread? Am booking a 1.2 petrol in few days and would like to hear your experiences especially if I plan to keep the car for 6-7 years.
