New E250CDI - Stalled!!!

Last nite ended in a rude shock when my new E250 CDI suddenly started to limp and finally stalled on the road. It was towed away this morning...

Car is less than 2 months old and has done little over 2.5K miles. I suspect the fuel injectors which may have developed a fault.

Mercedes really needs to get a grip with quality.

Pics posted.

OMG! Sad sight to see a brand new Mercedes on a tow truck!

Any updates from the dealer yet? Are you sure on the quality of fuel used?

That's sad mate. Getting a Merc stalled in front of the locals might sure be embarrassing for you :( Hope this doesn't repeat again. Like others asked, do check the fuel you used.

Although I don't think much of Merc's quality in the past decade, I would give them the benefit of doubt on this one and blame it on the fuel.

Do switch your pump as a precaution.

Why is the car in yellow board?

May be a case of bad fuel?

I'm also guessing it's gonna be based on fuel problems... sad to see a beauty like it on a towing truck!

Yowza. Why bad fuel? We have so may other Germans plying on our roads. This could (gulp) be a manufacturing defect :0

The car is on a yellow board because its a temp registration. I've only used shell fuel with this car. Def a manufacturing defect with the injectors.

Similar problems have also occurred in europe where fuel quality is not an issue.

There are many questions that remain unanswered...

Is mercedes aware/accept this problem?
Is mercedes selling the car inspite of being aware of the problem?
Are they going to issue a recall?
Will they replace my car with a new one since its brand new?

I am going to try my best to get a new car. It can be a real life threatening situation when the car suddenly starts to limp with traffic around you.

However, mercedes road side assistance have been spot on, car towed away in less than an hour. No complains there!

Hey Toxic sad to hear. I will have to agree that this looks more like something wrong with the car. It can also be some some loose connection in wiring. Btw did the dealer tow away the car straight or did the mechanic try to see under the hood?

The car towed away by MB to the dealer. There was no visit by any technician.

Update from MB:

As suspected injectors have developed a fault but MB is blaming bad fuel quality rather than a manufacturing defect. Nevertheless, all four injectors will be changed.
They estimate that it can take upto a week for the injectors to arrive from germany.

I doubt it if they will provide me with a loan car.

I am pretty sure that every E250 CDI sold in India will develop this problem and will have its injectors replaced. Hopefully, the replaced injectors should be trouble free else MB will have a serious problems.

these might look good but a waste in india. in bombay i am so used to s class, 7 series and jags going dead, and people passing them in santros some laughing and some loooking its not even funny. these things are not meant for india after all. india was a gold mine for these companies they sold cars here ripped people off and enjoyed. be indian, buy japanese or korean you will be very happy surely. honda has some b***s selling accord v6 for 31 laks here more than a bmw they know it will start every morning you crank it. sorry for your loss mate, do escalte the matter with mercedes
