Thanks, why do you doubt the interiors bit ?? To begin with it was almost as good as new, I hope it would only get better.

Fantastic thread. Have been following it from Day 1. Well done Ricky. You sure are going that extra mile in getting this W124 back into pristine condition. As a die hard W124 lover, I simply cannot wait for your car to be complete. The refurbishing job on the wheels is just superb. How have the interiors held up? Planning an upholstery upgrade?

Waiting for more updates and it would really be nice if you documented all the work done once the car is ready. It would help lots of other existing W124 owners and those who wish to own one (Yours truly included).

I'm giving this thread a 5 star rating.

Thanks Dippy !!

Yes, I am going the extraaaaa mile as I intend to keep this car for good (atleast I hope to).

The bodywork & wheels have come out very well. The interiors of this car were / are in TOP NOTCH shape, though in 18 year old fabric.

I was planning on doing leather, but it seems my pocket is already feeling the pinch - so will make do with the fabric for now. Leather can be done any time later, when needed.

Cheers

Well, among most Mercs I have seen on the roads, what I see is tired looking dashboards, worn out steering wheels, faded stalks and missing pieces of the trim here and there.

Hence, my apprehension.

Those rims look brand new. Stunning! Amazing! Eagerly waiting to see "better than new" interiors.

Your apprehension is well founded my friend, afterall age does take a toll on everything.

Let's see AFTER the car is completed, if it is good at disguising it's age & health !! Edit : Health is perfect BTW (touch wood)

Cheers

Hi infotech58

Don't bank on the interiors being "better than new" . I am keeping them stock as of now, but they are in brilliant shape. Like the fabric is in great shape, the dash is perfect, no peeling, no cracking etc etc.

As for the rims, well yes they look "nice"

WIP pics

Hi

These are some pictures of the car being worked on today. The window Glasses have gone back on. The radiator & fan etc have gone back on. As have some other things.

The bumpers have been given a rough black band as in OE. It matches the door handles, so I wanted them this way.

If you notice, the front windshield is off. That is coz I am putting in a new one, as the older one was kind of well - old, hence had quite some scratches - so I decieded to change it to a brand new one.

Take a looksie !!

Thank you Sir. I do agree that she is coming out to be a looker & those rims do look brand new. It is indeed a very professional job so far. The trust I reposed in the garage has been worth the $$$

I have posted some more pics today, as for the interior, I will certainly post pics of it once it is vacumed & cleaned. The before & after of the interior would pretty much be the same !!

Cheers

@Ricky - This is some inspirational work for W124 lovers and future owners. Like someone else has suggested can you at some point give details of the work done along with the $? Is it being done at MB workshop or some European specialist?
Have to say the wheels look amazing.
