No doubt about the latest obsession of Audi and Mercedes with LEDS. Audi has gone crazy with the new A8 and even the face lifted models have been given lots of LEDS here and there. I guess only the A4 and the R8 looks nice with LEDS (personal opinion).
Mercedes on the other hand was confused with what setup to be used in the headlamps. So came the LED fog lamps:eek:. |
IMO the A8 will also look good with the DRLs reason being , it dosnt look much different from the current A4 so what we would have is some meaner eyebrows for the DRLs making them look sinful at night.
About the LED trend, like BMW had the the Angel Eyes as their trademark , Audi came out with the DRL LED concept and it worked with a few models. I am extremely happy and i applaud BMW for not going the Mercedes way and copying some other manufacturer's idea.
What Mercedes Benz has done has literally enraged me ! Firstly those LEDs look positively horrendous on every Merc model and it seems like they have just forced the DRLs in there to add to the glitz ! I mean common, cant they come out with something original and of their own ????
The new E and the facelifted S with those DRLs really make me want to pull my hair apart ! :Frustrati
Agree with the Mercedes absolutely. By the way Plazadturbo i need to thank you for the PM on the reliability issues, your message did help me gain the courage to pick up the car. Been enjoying it over a month now. Anyways was just wondering if you have faced any sort of squeaking issues from the doors? Seems to be a typical problem with Audis. I had noticed it with an A6 a few days back.

Nope not at all so far. But that little niggle can be fixed in no time with a bit of lubrication
Mercedes went wrong with, leaving the dual lights that we find on the previous gen e-class. they looked fab.
surely gone totally wrong with the audi led's.
This car just makes you realize that Torque is everything !!!!
PlatzdaTurbo was over at my place on the weekend with the A4. After being passenger with him long back when the car was new, this time I took to the wheel. I knew this car was good but after driving it , it has just blown me away. This is a Monster and a true sleeper car at that. Debadge this thing and it will look like just another A4 to everyone. The acceleration of this 3.0 tdi is scary with a capital S. I have driven the A6 with this engine but this is completely different. Floor the pedal and you just get thrown back into your seat. I was just screaming all through while driving. The Sports mode takes it to another level altogether. Even in full auto mode the kick down is fantastic. The car just shoots forward and those turbo whistles are really addictive. The way it handles is outstanding; Quattro doing its magic here
We did a few spirited runs but it just keeps you asking for more. Infact Platzda told me that is was his first time in the shotgun seat with someone else doing the spirited driving. Tells me hes in love with his car all over again.
Platzda will be putting in his experience as passenger in his own car :)
Thank You for the drive buddy. Now I know what this car is capable of. Respect !!!
Just waiting to a comparison with the new F10 530D. That will be interesting.

Anytime buddy, anytime !
As he mentioned, it was a new (& horrific in a good way to say the least)experience for both of us.I dont know about dippy but not remotely had i thought we were in for a thriller ,or say...15 minutes of madness ?!! For the first time ever in 8months of the car, have i been in the passenger seat of this..."THING" & especially with someone doing all the crazy driving like i always do. Driving this machine is a thrill into unexplored territory and i was habituated to its savage responses over the months. Now the passenger seat !!...WOW...that was a different story all together ! Never had i expected any car to be almost as thrilling even through the passenger seat. A complete roller coaster ride ! (With dippy screaming, the stage seemed set )
In every little open space we found, he floored it and goodness gracious me, its a stomach churning effect! Very honestly, it was the first time i even noticed the sound of the turbo whistles as the windows were down and just affirms the fact how much this car has been pampered by all that excessive power. (not to mention the owners too! hehe)
3 rounds around a certain stretch of the highway and i could virtually see dippy getting younger with each trip around. The surge is addictive !
I did it that day and i do it again today and that is , to thank dippy for adding spice to my love-affair with the Audi that ,frankly was slowly becoming a tad-monotonous as 8 months of driving her and i had become used to her responses. Not even for a moment did i think it to be anywhere near boring, just that the roller-coaster session with dippy made me further aware of her capabilities. It was as if the Audi was telling me- " you think you'v done it all but baby i am super flexible and you are nowhere near my limits" LOL
I kissed the bonnet of the Audi just before i left Dippy's place and quite honestly i have been doing it everyday ever since ! Exclusivity, raw sex appeal and a sense of power at its very limit ! I LOVE HER.
& yes a TD of the f10 530D and the Jag xf D would be fun, especially if we go to their respective showrooms with the Audi :D What say dippy ?

Hi mokshe, i know it is a bit late to ask this but have you bought the Audi A4? Which car did you bought if not the Audi A4? A detailed review is awaited, if yes. :):)

Well i can answer a part of it on his behalf. Even if he might have booked the 3.0TDI its highly unlikely that he might have got possession. The wait periods for the 3.0TDI are almost half a year. Reason being, 99% of the people are happy with the 2 litre petrol and diesel on offer. For the enthusiasts, there is the 3.2tfsi which is a lakh cheaper than the 3.0tdi & maybe the rest might not even be aware that the A4 is now officially available in the 3.0tdi avatar in India. Best example is, i have not seen a single other A4 3.0TDI apart from mine.
PlatzdaTurbo : Remember, the passenger seat is always scarier than the drivers. Since you aren't in control, you don't know what to expect, hence your body moves around a lot more under acceleration / braking / cornering.

True. Just that this was perhaps the first time i was enjoying being scared :D
All thanks to the stomach churning effect

Well, waiting period of around 6 months can be very tough to go through once a "Babe" :D like this is booked. I think waiting period should be less than 6 months.
I have seen some 2 to 3 Black A4 3.0 Tdi's here in Delhi. Can't remember the number though. Also was unable to click them as they zoomed away in a ziffy but was able to see the 3.0 logo :D.
Your review on the B & A music system is still awaited. Also in your previous post you have mentioned the combined FE figures. What are the separate figures you are getting (City and Highway separately)?

What exactly do you mean by a
review on B&O ? Quite frankly i dont know what to write on it apart from the fact that it quite literally blows you away.
Efficiency figures -
In the city (bumper to bumper traffic) she regularly gives around 9kmpl. It varies to 8/10 kmpl according to the driving skills, traffic/road conditions , braking behavior.
More often than not she gives a 9
Highways again the driving styles make a drastic difference.
Driven on a highway like the Mum-Pune Expressway at a constant 100-110 with cruise control wherever possible and minimal breaking and what you get is a staggering ~ 17kmpl
More realistically , at higher speeds with regular breaking (thanks to idiots all around) a 13-14 kmpl figure is gain-able.
For figures of 15 kmpl and above, the driver needs to be conscious enough and stick to certain speeds ,avoid breaking etc.
Brilliant car Platzda! I think I have seen your car in the city a couple of times(in Bandra mostly). One question. How does the 3.0TDI compare with the 3.2 FSi in terms of performance?

Beats it. Nuff said.
Though if the 3.2 is running on 97 octane fuel it will be close.

Thanks man & yea good chance you might have. Am in bandra many a times.
Performance wise basically with any fuel ( low grade or high octane in case of the 3.2 petrol) the 3.0 TDI beats it.
With the 3.2 on high octane the 0-62mph timings are 6.2secs for the diesel and 6.4secs for the petrol.
In India , with the lower grade petrol, the difference might be more.
Then again, the 3.0TDI with manual transmission hits 100kph in 6.1secs :D
Bottomline 3.0 TDI > 3.2 FSI
