Wow congrats on the new buy. So can we expect some compares with the ANHC too?
By the way, I love the colour.

thanks Sid!

I wasn't aware of this HU. I am pretty sure the Sportz didn't have this one with USB. Maybe this was al alternate option possible. I should have checked with them.

Thanks SafeDrive. I am not sure in a comparison with ANHC would be fair - but i will definitely compare the engines.

This HU is sold as an accessory at all Hyundai dealerships and the sportz/asta still come with an old HU with only aux-in, not the one shown above, The second pic as mentioned is of the magna variant which has this HU been fitted for a customer by the dealer.

I think you missed a trick here. You could have looked at the Figo diesel. I have been driving one for 3 days and I absolutely love it. It has everything that you need in a car.
The engine pulls well given that you are above 1000 rpm (which you will be at most times), the A/C chills to the bone, the ride is fantastic and so is the handling, there's genuine room at the back and the boot is huge (by hatchback standard).

Congrats on the i10 anyways. I am sure you have your reasons.

Sid - I missed this. Too bad! I would have preferred this as it gives a nice complete look to the cabin.

I didn't miss it. here's my reasons.

I sound prejudiced - that's because I am. My family had some bad experience with Ford Escort in late 90's, and we just don't trust Ford. But FIGO is the best diesel hatch available in India now, and i am sure you would have a great ownership experience.

The Negotiator

The Negotiator

OK, so I prepare myself for the negotiations. There are three dealers and the diea would be to pit them against each other and get the best offer.

Time to read up some books on negotiation:
  • Getting to Yes: Roger Fisher
  • Bargaining for Advantage: Negotiation Strategies for Reasonable People : Shell
  • Harvard Business Essentials Guide to Negotiation by Harvard Business School Press

Over the next two weeks I will diligently study books, take notes to myself and apply myself in the field.

or Not!

Ok, just kidding. Best way to do the negotiation would be to have some numbers on the side. That would be easy. We are a large MNC and i10 is a popular urban car. There's got to be come colleagues buying the car. Off goes a mail to the company mailer - and sure enough - there's a bunch of people wanting to book the car. Welcome to the human network.

With 8 people ready to buy the car, we have an upper hand and companies are ready to offer bulk discounts.

Here’s what we managed :

1. Insurance (public offer)
2. Extended Warranty (public offer)
3. Exchange Offer of 15 K (public offer)
4. Corporate Discount of 4 K
5. 3M Sunfilm
6. Hyundai Remote Lock
7. Car Body Cover
8. Reverse Parking Sensor ( The High Quality Mirror one)
9. Fabric Seat Covers
10. Perfume & Idol
11. Floor and Dickie mats
12. Mudflaps
13. Teflon coating
14. Some additional discounts on the Music System
15. Additional - NCB Transfer discounted from my Palio (45% - about 7K)

That’s some sizable discounts and everyone's happy. 5 of us booked immediately, and 3 booked later this. 3-4 people who were debating between Swift/Ritz/i10 and moved to this side due to the offers. I guess Hyundai should give me additional discounts.

hye dude, I didnt opt for any freebies. The total discount I got was:

Total OTR: 5.07L

1. 25k Cash Discount
2. 16K Insurance
3. 15k Exchange Bonus
4. Sun Film
5. Floor and Boot mats
6. Mudflaps
7. 3rd Year extended warranty

I had taken the insurance outside, hence saved 6k on that. Total OTR for me came upto 4.6L for the Sportz model.

25K cash discount is a public offer? That is indeed a good deal. I am not sure whether they have such deals in Bangalore.

25k cash discount is from the dealer's end. The deal gave me 25k discount without any freebies! *except for sunfilm, doormats & mudflaps*. I was fine with it as Sportz model came fully loaded. I opted for insurance from TATA AIG which worked out to 10k as against 16k offered by the dealer. All in all the deal workedout to 4.75L - 15K (for exchange bonus). The exchange bonus would take atleast 6 months as the cheque would be directly sent from Hyundai India.

Hi Skywalker,
congrats on the new car.Excellent write up.I was really surprised to see the interiors of my friends i10 sportz. After seeing that our Swift's interior looks disappointing.I think the new swift will have great interiors.

Thats a great deal. You seems to be extremly good in negotiation. Please keep updating.I would like to know i10's mileage in relation to ANHC.

yes, i think thats what made my wife decide quickly in favor of the i10. The plastics and quality seemed better too. The new swift is going to be a much bigger car and would take it to the i20 level, i believe.

Without being any humble - thats due to the bulk orders we had. 8 people booking has much more weight than one.

I will check the mileage with tankful method and post it in this thread soon.

It was 25k cash discount stright, - 16k for the insurance. In total it is 41K discount +15K exchange Bonus. (25K+16k+15K)

Since I didnt opt for the dealer's insurance, I had to take insurance from Outside. This was 10K from TATA AIG. So the total discounts works out to = 25k (dealer's discount) + 6k (Saved on the insurance) + 15K (Exchange Bonus) = 46K in all. Apart from this, I for the sunfilm, door mats, mud flaps & 3rd year extended warranty (from Hyundai). I didnt get the corporate discount since my company was'nt listed in the hyundai internal.

The quoted OTR was 5.075L and I finally paid 4.75L (-15K when I get the exchange bonus).
