Hello all, This is the time I can never forget. It all began end of June when a friend was desperately searching for a car and called me in for company.
We went to a dealership nearby thinking he would either get a Honda Civic or a Mazda 3. In turn we ended up at a dealer having Nissan, Skoda and Mitsubishi. The dealer had a fleet of Nissan Tiida's and a range of Lancer's. We tried the Tiida first and my friend loved the car. My first impressions were "Dude! you cant be serious about this car. This is a family car not for us.". He almost wanted to say YES to this one but I insisted him to check other cars as well.
He then checked out a 2009 Mitsubish Lancer hatch. I took out for a spin and felt good. The dealer seemed desperate to sell this lancer by giving out so many freebies. It was a too good to believe situation and we felt something wasn't right. So we skipped that car. So my friend finalized the Tiida and was inside talking to the dealer. Meanwhile, I went around the yard checking out different cars and I came across a Lancer VRX. It was a 2006 model A/T having 70K on it selling for $16000. I rushed for my friend and asked him to check out one of the best cars I've known (atleast heard). We then took it for a test drive and along came a dealer boy and started driving. We din't feel the ride was comfortable. Then its my friend's turn (he is the Jason Stathem in Australia I know). Hope you guys know ho the tets drive would end(ofcourse with a happy ending and the car was safe too). First thing I notice wheel spin. Second, the revv counter keeps going up but wheres the engine.
The ride was awesome and he finalized to that car. Then came the paper work and the dealer accepted for an offer of $13000 after a looong time and applied for in house finance. The estimaed delivery was 4 days. I came back to my place thinking, "
Damn! how can this guy end up with such nice cars all the time. Its not fair." So days passe by and my friend calls up to tell some bad news. Apparently he cant go for this car but the car was almost ready to be delivered.
He asked me if I wanted the car, and I said YES. The payment was $75/week and I rellay liked the car. So there I became the owner of a Mitsubishi Lancer VR-X.
The car has good black interiors with. I am so excited dont even know what to pen down about this car
Specs:
2.4L, 16V, MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing and Electronic Control), water cooled, SOHC engine.
Four speed A/T
Front wheel drive
115kW at 5750 rpm
220Nm at 3500 rpm
Has ABS, EBD, dual front air bags, sports seats (front), ACC, in dash six cd changer, cruise control
Verdict: If you are looking for comfort, get away from this car. The ride is stiff at low speeds (horribly stiff). But it is a different story when the speeds are high.
Thanks for bearing with me. Please pour in your comments.
Sorry for the picture quality more pictures coming soon.
Is the 4 speed auto any good? Sounds like a waste for the engine and car. Congrats on such a surprise car.
somehow looks similar to cedia , rear lamp cluster, front grill , steering wheel .
Nice choice ! But the 4 speed AT could do with atleast 2 more speeds :(
Cant believe its done 70 K Kms :Shockked: Doesn't show its age at all !
Enjoy the experience & keep us posted !

Thanks nirmal. It sure is a well maintained car.
@congrats on the car!
I came very close to buying one of these in the States. Was just bowled over by it.
However, was not very impressed with the safety kit offered, and I clearly remember the car skidding in the snow (no TCS), and given that I was new to driving, it just didn't work out for me. Good sense prevailed and I got a 2002 Galant V6 for much less.
Good to see you settling down in Sydney.
And, Congrats on the car, it indeed looks very much like Cedia. Maybe it was built on the same platform as even the engine specs sound similar.
Have fun and Drive safe !

Doesn't just look like the Cedia, this car IS the Cedia (with a different powertrain). HM-Mitsubishi sell two generations of the Lancer side by side. The first Lancer to hit India was the 7th gen, while the Cedia (and the Lancer in this thread) is the 8th gen. The new EVO X is based on the 9th gen Lancer.
Congratulations Mezereo. As GTO rightly said, this is indeed the 8th gen lancer or cedia as we call it here in India with a 2.4L engine and an AT transmission.
US$13k sounds great considering it has a MIVEC, what was the retail of this one? However, the 4 speed AT doesnt do justice to the complete powertrain.
The hard ride would ofcourse be due to hard suspension and the bigger (17"?) wheels. Can you post some snaps of the front seats, are they kinda Recaros?
Only one thing if I could change, the stock music head unit doesnt go with the interiors, kinda spoils the looks. Change it if you can.
Overall, a very nice car. Take care and Drive safe!
Gaurav
Congrats for you purchase. Probably this car had your name written on it from the day1.
It seems to have lots of nice features for a 2006 sedan. And no doubts it appears to be very well maintained.
Happy and safe driving!

Hey Mezereo,
That's a cool car you got and its more than a year now with it. So when are you planning to upload new pictures of the car.
Give us loads of interiors and Sydney city pics man.
Awaiting your Lancer's awesome snaps along with travelouges, if any. please:
Thanks buddy. That really was a good car.
Sadly, the car met with an accident and I had to scrape it off.
Couldn't have the car for a longer time.

That's really sad.
Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope all the passengers in the car were safe after this unfortunate event occured.
So, which beauty replaced the Lancer?
