haha your guess was not even close. We have a pre-owned i10 Era! Reason why we got a pre-owned era was, I was just learning to drive and i prefered to drive a pre-owned car rather than a new one. We wanted to sell it and replace iRDE with Kappa! We are anyways happy with the kappa engine and ergonomics of i10.

I am getting my ride's shoes upgraded today. Planned for alloys and yoko rubber. Would post the pics in my garage latter this week.

I also had an option of AT, but prefered the MT as I at much comfort.

Congrats for the car, very good way of presenting the ownership report. The color choice is nice. I seriously feel if Hyundai can add steering controls for music player in this.

Very nice choice and I am impressed with the hill holding feature, is it good for very steep ramps too ? no need to be cautious of cars behind ?

Congrats on your new acquisition - no nonsense city car indeed!

AFAIK - i10 does not have the hill hold functionality. On gentle slopes - the rollback is negated by the AT crawl-forward tendency - thus the effect of car standing still.

Always engage parking brakes while stopping/parking on a slope.

Yes, MT is a good choice - it offers more driving pleasure. Little brothers like me have to wait for our own MT cars !! In my driving school days , I found the non-PS Santro fun to drive.

As Blackasta pointed out, AT i10 doesn't have a hill holding feature. One has to rely on the good old handbrake (or) Service brakes if the traffic is moving. But the car does easily pull away in D mode on moderately steep ramps (One has to give it some gas tough).

Blackasta , your i10 looks great ! Did it come with Beige+Red interiors ?

Nopes - the red trim is only for the sportz version. Mine is an Asta.
After recent rains and driving on not-so-clean roads, my car has a just-back-from-offroading look to it. Hope to get that sorted out this weekend. A wash is overdue for more than 3 months!

Hey Ashwanth. Nice review, very informative.

Question - you have mentioned "FE" as one of the cons. What is the (city) FE your brother is getting?

Nice Choice!!

It's the best choice for city traffic. I've been driving an i10 AT in Chennai for about 9 months now. Trust me, if you drive 25 kms up and down Chennai traffic every single day, not even Schumacher would want a Manual!!

Here's some light on your queries:

Is this normal?
Yup! and it better be so (just half-way mark), in Chennai weather!!!

Yup, no push starts for any AT car....this has happened to me once....better get battery health checked regularly!!

Not a must, but good to do....esp for AT's

nice idea...but unfortunately not available!

Have a nice time with the i10 AT!

That's one neat, lean and crispy review friend.
We have decided to get a i10 for my birthday (oct 19). We prefer MT just for the 2 facts you've mentioned in Cons.
1) Fuel Efficiency
2) Would definitely miss the pleasure of shifting gears in AT especially while listening to songs i would really love to change gears along the rhythm of the song (well this can be seen in every song if the hero drove a car)

while we are talking about push starts, there is a thread in technical section where one fellow BHPian has bought jump starter kit for AT car.

Very helpful, go through it.

A quick note to my reply above: I forgot to add my mileage figures:

In City:
With AC: 11kmpl
Without AC: 12kmpl

On Highways:
With AC: 16kmpl
Without AC: 18.5kmpl

Mine is a BSIII car, 2009 model i10 Magna AT, on stock tires.

I just mentioned it relative to a MT car. Mileage is roughly 9 kmpl in the city with 90% AC.

Thats excellent mileage for i10 AT. Ours is approximately 9 kmpl in city. Hope that improves after first and second services.

Renji3 , took your car on highway too - how far ? How is the drivability(power, handling) on highways ?
