hay i drove the fiesta yesterday and was suprised to find it so silent(diesel),i never expected a sub10lakh diesel to be so refined, the car feels incredibly refined at 2-4k rpm and has no turbolag after 1500rpm that makes it a great car for traffic but i felt sad when i streched the car further after 3k rpm the car lost all the surge and felt even worse than a indigo, performance when compared to accent crdi is not even enough, but overall its a far better car than the accent, priced at 6.99lakhs(ex-showroom,delhi)the car is a steal and has superb ride and control, steering though light and direct lacks the feedback of the ikon but still its miles better than NHC,brakes again are great comapared to the previous fords,ABS is available as an option, most people cant even tell that its a diesel when sitting inside with AC on.A/C again is great.steering is height adjustable but the seat is not, driving position is too high for my taste, attention to detail is nice.ILL BUY THIS CAR SOON,this car made me make a quick desicion -selloff the indica-this is the car ive been waiting for.the salesman made a HYPER claim of 24kmpl in city and 20kmpl for petrol versions which i cant believe.

Initial reports say that the Petrol Fiesta is giving a mileage of around 9.5 kmpl in the city.

I remember the Car & Bike show mentioning a figure of 10 or 10.5 kmpl in city for the petrol.

ive read the article you have mentioned over here i dont think there are enough cars delivered to beleive claims like these that too from indiatimes that is asking a novice for an advice,i am waiting for 24thdec for autocarindia to be out and i am very desperate to check out the full road test.the petrol fiesta is expected to return 15kpl@highways and 11kpl@cityconditions.

Any cars with 32 bit ECU's even without Electronic throttle have similar characteristics. |
ECU is what controls the electronic throttle.

OK. We have the FE figures from ACI.
Diesel:
City - 13.8
Highway - 18.3
Petrol:
1.4
City - 10.2
Highway - 15.3
1.6
City - 9.6
Highway - 14.9
If thats the stat then Ford Dealers are taking Indian consumer for a real good ride. What they claim is diesel 23 Kmpl in city with ac on. Even the dealers have put huge hordings all over the city with the same claims. So do we let them take us for a ride or are there any mechanism to stop the consumers from being cheated. GTO may be able to throw some light on this aspect.

Those figures for the diesel seem lower than that for the Accent diesel....while the Petrol figures are pretty good, especially the highway bit. What is the yardstick they use for 'highway' ?
Hi,
Actaully i never belive any FE given by any car magazine. Car magazines say Corsa gives 10.4 in city without ac where as i m geting 12 - 14 in city.
So i think we will wait till some fiesta user give us the figures.
:)

So much for tall claims from Ford and their dealers.
The figures are the same as for any 1.5-1.6 DOHC engine in the market (leave aside a few which save on the weight front).
What were we guys expecting anyways - some miracle technology from Ford which would provide performance and FE at the same time from a much heavier car than the Ikon ...

Nope, the ACI figures are always
understated.Do not take these to be the actual figures. In practise the users get more. It's better to compare the ACI figures of two cars and judge, since both the figures will have a similar offset.
The Diesel figures are excellent and are about 1-1.5 kmpl more than the equivalent Accent Crdi FE figures in ACI. So as expected the Ford Fiesta diesel will be more FE than the Accent Crdi.
Also the petrol FE figures of the 1.4 Fiesta are almost equal to the 'supposedly' hyper FE NHC Idsi.( The city figure being equal and the highway figure approx .5 km lesser).
This is great bcoz the Ford Fiesta 1.4 is significantly more peppier than the NHC Idsi.
The 1.6 FE figures are also good and should be close to(slightly lesser) than Baleno/Lancer. And consequntly would be lesser by 1-1.2 kmpl than the NHC Idsi and would be equal or more than the NHC Vtec.
Seems to me that Ford has done a pretty good job at the FE of Fiesta. Especially considering it has so many other features like power, class leading ride etc..

I think most of the cars are tested on the Mumbai Pune expressway, and do a steady 80-100kph in top gear, giving them excellent highway mileage. The Fiesta's (1.6) actual mileage in Kerala highways is more in the range of 13kpl, according to one of the first owners of the car in Calicut.

What did you feel about the mileage? And, what model is your car?
