Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive - Venture spotted

Saw a white Venture parked inside the India Vision TV channel's office/studio at Bypass Road, Kochi today evening. Could not click since I was driving.

Whether it is brought for channel's review or purchased by them is not clear. Noticed that it did not have Temp regn number or any such stickers.

Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive

Excellent move by TML, I was afraid that they would launch in commercial vehicle segment and kill it as they did for Winger. however with venture it was a different case.

When is it available for public??

chance encounter with a venture

i was at the local tasc for collecting my indigo this wednesday and got to see this. had to sneak up at the location to take snaps so no one stops me. When i quizzed the SA and the manager for its launch date and asked if it was a good buy against the Eeco -- both said its not going to be as cheap as a Eeco. this is the ex version that i have clicked -- there are 3 versions lx, ex and gx.

p.s. please excuse the quality of snaps since they are taken by my phone cam as well as the overzealous guys were busy washing down this venture.

I think I want one of these, makes good sence, good space, AC, I'm sure there is PS and to top it all economy of Diesel. Pricing is the only factor I believe that would play a vital role in it's success.

@condor I think they are dummy weights, to emulate the passengers.

Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive

The only concern I have after re-looking at the pics is that of the seafty of the front passengers in case of a head on impact, and the repair cost also would be very high, as the entire assembly up front would go for a toss. I think a even a small impact upfront would lead to a huge bill, simply becasue the entire dashboard will go for a toss taking everthing with it.

yes -- each of the middle and last row seats had this load strapped onto it. I got to know that it was back from a days trip from Pimpri-Nashik-Aurangabad-Ahmednagar - Pimpri. Looks like they were testing to see how it would behave on highways with loads ( read passengers) on board

The model looks ready for launch and the tentative date according to the manager was in feb-mar 2011.

The risks will be similar to what you would see for an Omni. That said, every car has it's own risks.

indivic -- no clue about that -- since this was at a tasc, there wasnt anyone knowledgeable about the product. the driver was alone.

Tata Venture - Test Drive-3536.jpg

The Tata Calypso concept in 1993 was Tata's first attempt at an MPV. Sadly it never saw production

Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive

Well, well, you learn something new everyday.Thought it was only the Tata Magna concept that disappointed me, but more skeletons tumbling from the closet.
OH, Tata motors , how could you let go off such a cool concept.Even though ashamedly copied from merc design,it's still handsome and big.
Even if Tata launches it NOW,am sure it would be a success(but, hey, there is where the stupid Winger is right now!),so guess never gonna see the light of the day.

Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive

That dead front end does have prescence like that of a typical mini bus. 4 lakh range? It has the potential to challenge the eeco.

Re: Tata Venture - Test Drive

Only sore point in this car is it looks so much like the Ace!
I know they have tweaked the front here and there but it still resembles the Ace. Wish they had modded it a little more to make it somewhat distinct.
