Congratulations on the new Vee-Dub chet1376!
Wish you many happy miles on your new new Vento.

I had a question. Does the Wiring kit for the headlamps trouble the ECU. In a few cars, the CAN bus network checks the health of the bulbs and shows a sign or two on the MID. Does adding an additional wiring kit hamper that?

A very good question. And also were there any wires cut to install the HID?

Congratulations ! The car looks cool with those big tyre's , gives more planted stance ! Nice choice leather seats , Classy !

Wished you on the previous thread already, but nevertheless, hearty congratulations on the new acquisition. Drive safe:)

Congratulations on your new car! I think your's is first Vento ownership report.

Seat cover job has been done well.

Looking forward to further update on this thread.

Congrats on the Vento Petrol Highline. The seat cover finishing is very good. Nice choice of color for the seat cover and the car.

Do enjoy many more happy miles with the Vento.

Congrats Man, finally we have a Vento report in the forum.
Please keep us all updated regularly because im sure there will be lot of people who would keep a regular eye on this thread like it happened with Chetan's Polo thread .
And those seat cover looks beautiful .

Cheers
Take care and drive safe.

chet1376: Congrats on your Vento!

Both of us actually have very similar cars except for a few differences :). I have the Polo 1.6 in the same Reflex Silver. My seats too are beige except mine are the art-leather Polo ones. I agree, I too feel the beige suits the car better than the beige and black.

Hey Chet, nicely done up ride you got there.

Could you tell me what the VLT and Heat Rejection on your tints are? Also some more pics from a side angle would be nice :)

Thanks funkydevil.

AIR75 ( Windsheild Film )
VLT - 73%
SE Rejection - 39%
UV Rejection - 99.9%

Not sure about specs for the Steel 05. Was not able to find it on the chart on http://www.llumar.com/pdf/en/LLumarAutoSpecsGlobal.pdf.

Great Pics, congrats dude. Questions, i may be repeating, but here goes:
1. What all of the warranty goes void after the rubber upgrade? Can you, as an owner, please ask the Auth. Serv. Centre/Dealer.
2. Whats the mileage you're getting in the city with 100% a/c in traffic?
3. Does it bottom out anywhere in city driving?
4. How is the paint finish coating? Thick enough to withstand minor scratches etc.
5. How is the clutch feel, is it very hard? It was ok during my TD but an owner like you will be the best judge.
6. How effective is the a/c during the day?
7. As the car has EPS, do you actually feel the cut off/sensitivity after 40-50kmph like EPS's normally do?
8. Are you planning to change the ICE to Witson/Caska?

Enjoy your ride and as always advise you to drive safe! Have fun!

Thanks anilkalvani !!!

About the warranty - VW dealers have said that warranty is void with any kind of upgrades / modifications. I have checked with a couple of people who have upgraded the tyres on the Polo and Vento to 205/55/R15, and have had no issues at all. In fact one of them have upgraded to 16" alloys on the Polo. I am quite confident that the tyre upgrade shouldnt cause any problems. I have taken the risk :)

Haven't really checked the FE in the city - will update shortly.

Paint Finish is excellent - not sure abt thickness to withstand minor scratches.

Clutch is smooth - no issues at all.

A/C is effective - cools pretty quick. I keep the temp at 23 degrees. Will need to check effectiveness in peak summer.

EPS cut off/sensitivity - not sure, never checked

Havent decided on ICE yet, but will upgrade maybe in a couple of months

Thanks eagle_bush.

I have had no issues with the Hella Wiring Kit and Relay. Again, checked with quite a few people who have installed the same on the Polo, Vento, Cruze, etc. As long as its installed right, you shouldnt have any issues.

Yeah the beige seats go well with the interiors. I was recommended tht I match the seat colour with the car exterior - silver / black, but I felt beige wud be a better choice :)

Hi Chet1376,
The car looks gorgeous on those 205s. Congratulations. Today its exactly one month since you took the car delivery on 29th Sep 2010. Pl share with us how it has been driving this car for a month.
@ relay, I too had fitted it on my car in Aug 2006, but that was a PMP make. It lasted me for exactly 4 years. In Sep 2010 it failed & dipper was not working. I replaced it with a Hella make at local TVS Lucas for Rs 200/-. As you rightly mentioned 90/100 W halogens are a must if you do lot of highway driving at night.

1st things 1st.
:thumbs upCongratulations. Its is definately a good buy.

Diesel definitely has more punch than the Petrol. But for my usage - mostly city driving of 10 km/day, maybe 50 km on weekends and a long drive once a month, the diesel didnt make sense.

I do not agree to that. How much does the Diesel version most more? 1.2L.
Even with your kind of driving which is around lets say 6K/year, you will be saving RS 15K a year which is still reasonable. In fact I would go for the Diesel Vento even if both had same running cost. The fun you can have with the 250 NM of torque cant be equated to money.
And as far the NVH part you are right. Diesel is not that refined as the others and nowhere close to the petrol segment.

Good to hear that steering has weighed up well. Any perceivable change in Handling/Ride?

Well that's fine. But how about a rough estimate for the tyres. And how much you got for the OEM ones (a rough estimate). I see you have retained your OEM alloys. Please PM me if you dont want to disclose it here.

And 1 more thing.
Mind if I ask why not Honda City. Or why not an AT?

The fun you can have with the 250 NM of torque cant be equated to money - I totally agree with you oxyzen, but the vibration and noise levels, if not for these I would definitely opt for the Diesel. Also, the 1.2L price diff - can soup up the Petrol version pretty good with that kinda money!!!

The reduction from 60 to 55 profile does make a wee bit of difference. I can definitely feel a little bit more of the pothole when I hit one, 60 is ideal.

Why not Honda City? Well I already have a Honda City ( Anniversary Edition ), didnt want another Honda City in my garage, was considering the Civic though, a while ago.

Why not an AT? I have never been a fan of the ATs. I prefer a manual transmission any day, feel more in control.

I would not be bothered about that, as long as the handling improves.

Well in that case you are the ideal person for a head to head Honda vs VW (specially service). Do post a new thread as per your convenience. I believe lot of people are eagerly waiting for it.

Diesel Highline - 1,118,673
I do not intend to 'frustate' any of my friends in Bangy but just checked that the on road price of diesel Highline in Gurgon is 9,70,000.

Thats a 1,48,000/- difference. When will they build any roads for this money that they gobble up in Bangy!

@chet1376
I spoke to my tyre guy today. He also offered me 2k/tyre for the OEM 185/60 R15 (Apollo or JK) but he suggested 195/60 R15 & not 205/55 R15 as it would affect the ride & also the profile is too low for our roads & that 195/60 would sit perfectly in the highline alloys even though the difference in overall diameter is nearly 2% (Diameter change will be 12mm). He was suggesting Primacy or S-drives but will confirm with me later.
