Not thought of service yet as it is 10 months away and hopefully I will not need them before that. The workshops are located in the periphery and I am sure that there are drivers hired to ferry the car from the dealership to workshop and back.

There are still very few Vento's on the road. My Car does evoke a lot of interest and I have been asked by several people about its performance, mileage and of course the OTR price. The car is performing well and in the heavy traffic of Bangalore the FE is about 13.5. I am yet to work out whether to release the clutch pedal slowly or quickly. If I release it a bit quickly I get that thud and the car is eager to pull away but at the cost of smoothness of journey.

oil top up

For now you could do well to check the engine oil levels periodically, say after every 250kms or so and as and when you find the level at min. or below min. add up a quarter liter and then check again after a couple of days to see if you need to add a little bit more or not.
thankyou, Khoj for that info. every 250 km is like checking every week. reminds me of my ambassador and Fiat days when we had to check the radiator level every time you set off on a slightly long journey. Willl definitely check the oil level every week. Just wondering why the Laura didn't have the same problem. Any idea?

I had enquired with a dealer in Bangalore and what he had said is that the dealers are only appointed for sales. After sales and service of the cars is going to be done (owned and run) by the company directly, is that true?
If that is so then it will be a first in India any car company has done this.

This leaves me very concerned. I'd always maintained that VW should use the "after sales" card as a USP over Skoda, but I'm not hearing too many positive dealer experiences.

Agreed. That oil-burner completely overshadows the petrol Vento.

Drive safe and do keep updating this thread as the odometer keeps clicking. It'll be of great help to other (potential) Vento owners.

This is the level of Oil after 1400km on the odometer. It so far appears to be acceptable.

Oh! but the Skodas have a similar thirst for oil too. There is a thread by member Sam Kapasi narrating his crisis with low engine oil level in his Superb, so I am assuming that Laura should have the same issue too.

Now only if someone with an Audi and a Porsche could confirm similar experiences, that would complete the circle.

Either that sales guy is a complete noob or he was pulling your leg. BTW which dealer and which sales executive?
