The reach of the horn is a problem, you have to move your hands a little inwards and is not easily accessible like other cars from the rim of the steering wheel.

Also, I find not being able to switch the indicator when the left hand is on gear a little annoying. Why cant they change the position to suit the Indian market?

That is true. But got used to this since I drive a Fiesta too. :)

Oh Thats good, people wont honk much :) (no offense to anybody )

I see most of VW's line hhas similar set up for the horn deep in the heart of the steering wheel!

Honk is somthing most used both by decent and erratic set of drivers...

It just a matter of getting used to car and its layout...

Well, if there was no need to honk in India, it would have meant great drivers. You have to warn people when you are behind them on the other lane also. You never know when they will suddenly veer in front of you. And its just a brief honk to let your presence known.

Its only a matter of getting used to, after driving your past car( suzuki, hyundai). I find the similar setups in Ford, Corsa etc.

Just happened to pop the hood and check the fluids. Surprisingly, the coolant liquid managed to go below the 'low' mark. Called up VW and they asked to bring the car tomo for checkup.

Isnt it strange for the coolant to go below the mark as the car only clocked 3100 kms??

9. The black plastic covering where the OVRMs are fitted lacks quality. The black color started to fade making it stand out.

Could you post a pic of the same? There was another issue about the black plastic getting faded on the Polo as well. Even I feel the black parts on my Polo aren't as 'black' as they were when new.

Are you sure this wasnt the level from the beginning?
I have heard VW engines drinking oil but never coolant.

Plastics in my Beat are as black as NEW. Even after 1 year. I think you need to report VW about it.

Recheck the level when the engine is cold, the level might be low when checked soon after the car is run.

Yes, I shall post the pics. When compared to the Fiesta and Swift, the black plastic of the Vento isnt great. Also, a fellow bhpian's Polo had the same problem.

Had checked this today morning. The level is bit below the low level mark. So dont wanna take a risk. Will check with the dealership in the after noo since I have a long drive planned in the evening.

Here are the pics. I have also attached the pic of the black plastic of the OVRM. Although the white patch looks minimal in the pic, it really stands out in real. It's becoming worse every day.

Are the exterior plastic strips painted or is the material itself black? They should ask Maruti on where to source plastics.

The material itself is black. Especially the OVRM plastic lacks quality. Fiesta got some high quality bits.

Update on the low coolant Level

They topped on the engine coolant for free. They said this really should happen since the car is pretty new (47 days/3200 kms).
Completely checked the engine bay and the service mechanic took a ride to check for any faults. Everything seems to be just fine.

They did all the checks and asked to check the level when the engine is cold and warm for a couple of days. If there is any considerable difference, they said they would check with it. But as of now, everything is working fine.

I should say that, after visiting several service stations of Maruti and Ford, VW is the best till date.

Naveen,

Good to hear about your initial VW service experience for coolant issue.

For those white patches near ORVM's , try applying some dashboard /plastic spray or paste and check if they do help?.

Many black ORVM's, side door gaurd strip come in black and have similar fate over a period of time. Spotted many Hyundai cars out from service and have a liquid /paste kind applied on the black plastic( may not long last, but does help).

Hi Naveen,

Congrats on the car.

Regarding the OVRM plastics, i guess even the same is the story with Honda City (ANHC) also. The same issue has been up for some time in the ANHC ownership threads.

Same vendor for both VW & Honda?
