The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Dear Bhp-ians let me introduce my first car Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White.

Statistics and Dates
  • Booked on Oct 2nd
  • Took Delivery on 8th OCT
  • Freebies :-floor mat, under body 3m painting ,Steering cover etc
  • On road price:- 741500

Background
My love for FIAT started when i first drove palio which one of my friend was using. Then my finances were against me buying a car so had to satisfy with my two wheeler but i was always in a look out for my first car.Since i live in Bangalore any sedans was out of question. So my search was concentrated on hatchbacks.FIAT was the obvious first choice when i started looking for the cars but the experience with the dealers was a big turn off for me.

I even started thinking of alternate options like i20 and polo. The lack of feature list was a big turn off for polo. Now the contenders were Punto and i20
i20 is a good all-rounder it got speed it got style and it got features but for me it lacked character (purely my personal opinion).

Diary circle Concorde motors changed my perception they gave me a nice TD of the vehicle and i fell for the car.I was amazed by the speed masking ability of the vehicle. One wouldn't even notice the speed even when you are cruising at 150.It also gives you the best ride and handling for any car in south of 10 lakhs.more over as some one rightly said here that "no one buys a FIAT,FIAT buys you".These reasons were enough for me to book punto as my first car.

I had plans to move to Kerala where i belong to so i decided to book the car from Cochin.I had two options KHT motors and Concorde motors in Cochin. Both these dealers were keen on selling the cars.I was given a better offer from Concorde so went with them.

Till Now
  • Completed first service @ 3k on Oct 23rd
  • Upgraded stock speakers with JBL on 24thOCT
  • Completed 5k on Nov 20th
  • Completed 7.5k on Dec 13th

+ves
  • Amazing ride quality
  • Good Speed masking ability
  • ACC is a Boon
  • Blue & Me works perfectly
  • Steering should get a special mention.
  • cheap spare prices.

-ves
  • After connecting new speakers there are minor rattles in doors
  • Turbo lag is obvious below 1.7k rpm

Its been 2 months since i took the car.I am a complete satisfied customer and i'm cherishing every moment i spent in the car.

Wow! Let me be the first to congratulate you. Hope your Punto will serve you for a long time.

I had seen your post in the "I booked my car thread" and was wondering if your car has been delivered or if you changed your mind.

Congrats on your new car, good choice!!.. and enjoy Fiat's exclusivity.

Also, how come you landed on the impression that spares are cheap, within two moths of ownership(1st service?). I'm curious to know if you had to change any parts.

Also, would love to see some pics of your First Car.

i had a bad experience in this two month some one tried to steal the driver side mirror in the process they broke it .So i had to change the mirror and it costs only Rs 258/- for the mirror.By the way for first service i got a 0 rupee bill yet another reason to smile.
Note i didn't change the engine oil during first service.decided to go with the manufacture.

Even i was amazed the pace at which i'm piling miles in punto

after i took delivery i had frequent long drives

Three drives from bangalore to kottayam (605km one side)
one Yercaud drive (500 km)
one Goa drive from bangalore (725 one side)
and yes daily i'm driving 46 kms (to office and back)
Zoo Zoo is definitely a mile muncher

speedKrazy, Congrats on your Punto. Can you let me know which location do you drive to and fro for office everyday? I drive 40kms to and from from RRNagar to EGL everyday and I go crazy over this Bangalore traffic. Just curious to know if there is a bigger sufferer than me.

Congrats man for your wonderful acquisition. Punto definitely will delight you as you clock more and more kilometers with her.
I was initially surprised to see your on-road price and your location as Bangalore. I paid more than that for my 75HP punto here

Congratulations on the Punto! Honestly, I have never been a fan of White on a Punto, but you like it and thats what matters. Congrats again and drive safe.

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

i think BNW seems to be the most favorite color for the punto.

almost everyone here has BNW (few exceptions of red n grey)

each passing day i end up seeing atleast 2-3 new BNW punto. n i booked myself one too.

and ofcourse : congratulations speedKrazy!!

9000 KM update

Completed 9000 kms during this week end trip to Chennai.

Here are some more observations till now
Let me put the bad bits first

1) Glove box started rattling.
2) Reverse light assembly has gone loose.
3) Song selection is limited to steering wheel controls.

Now the good bits
1) Car is rock solid even at 160 kmph
2) A sedate driving can give mileage around 25 kmpl in highways (speeds around 60-80)
3) Back seat arrangement would leverage lots of luggage carrying space
proved very useful when we changed our house recently.

I know I'm late. But I can't resist myself from congratulating you for owning this Italian Hatch.

Where are the pictures and detailed report? Yes, I'm eagerly waiting for the same.

2) Reverse light assembly has gone loose.
The reverse light assembly of our Fiat GP had gone loose when a car rear-ended our car. The reverse light assembly was fixed using a glue from the service centre during the free service.

PS: There are high chances that the dealers might insist you to replace the whole reverse light assembly. Better ask them to fix it using glue, else you can DIY.

3) Song selection is limited to steering wheel controls.
You can change the songs using the controls on the Blaupunkt Head Unit. But, the controls on the HU won't work if you're playing the songs from a USB device.

So, I assume that you're playing the songs from a pendrive.
