Re: i20 1.2L Asta - It's not cool; it's uber cool!

@flyingcolors: which color have you booked?

I think the additional freebies could be because of my choice of color. As mentioned earlier, Silky Beige is not a popular color and the dealers might have given the additional freebies to clear the 2010 Silky Beiges. A win-win situation really!

Congrats for the uber cool i20. You certainly seem to be in love with it. A lot has been said on the engine to be under-powered. What do you think about the same??
Also, some snaps of your car would be most welcome. The thread has already crossed three pages without any.

Gosh! You guys must be thinking that I am terrible!

I took out the camera yesterday to transfer the pics that I have clciked so far and guess what; my Sony digicam is flashing the dreaded 13:01 error

Went and borrowed a memory card reader from a friend which didn't work either. Have tried every trick in the book (read: as per Google), still no luck. Will try again, else a new photo shoot it will have to be!

I booked a dark grey. And yea, choice of your color and also higher margin for the dealer on the Asta model might be the reason for the good deal.

Pics most awaited and your driving experiences

Re: i20 1.2L Asta - It's not cool; it's uber cool!

@kalpeshc: I had posted the first FE figure last week. It was around 10.38 km/lt. with 100% city traffic (at it's worst).

The second FE figure is at 13 km/ltr with 40% highway driving (AC on full blast) and 60% bad traffic (surprise me!) city traffic and 100% AC on.

I am hoping the FE would improve slightly with the next couple of services. Anyways, based on some reviews I was expecting an average FE of 10 km/ltr so I am not disappointed at all.

All- My memory stick has gone kaput and I am unable to transfer pictures. Will have to click new pictures and post. Sorry!

Whoa - the FE sounds a bit low. my friend has reported 12 in b2b traffic. it may pick up after driving in, and also may differ due to driving style (this guy is habituated to switching off at signals etc)
I hope you have kept a back up for your flash drive. the pics are long overdue!

Re: i20 1.2L Asta - It's not cool; it's uber cool!

OK...Here are a couple of pics that were taken on my friend's camera during a recent trip to Lepakshi.

I am yet to buy a new memory stick for my camera, so more pics later.

The color contrast:

Believe me when I say this color hides dust really well

Re: i20 1.2L Asta - It's not cool; it's uber cool!

Hi Manz,

Congratulations on your new car and wish you happy milllion miles.

Now about queries, I know bit late, please find my responses as below.

Right away some questions for all of you:

- tyre noise
Yes, it gets more than Santro and also more out side noise. Still you may check out with service / Hundai show room. Also, check the cover between bumper and wheel, if it has some space you get more noise inside (atleast, I noticed that, though it is slightly funny).

- I hear a cross between a ‘whoosh’ and ‘keetch’ sound when the break is applied softly. Need help!

Better get it checked.

- The driver side door doesn’t close properly. I had pointed this to the sales guy while taking the car delivery and he said it is not something to be worried about and the next time I am the service center, they’ll fix it. Should I be overly concerned?

They should fix it immedaitely, i20 doors are very smooth you hardly need to close it hard. Even after more than year my cars door close with smooth action.

- The automatic gear indicator consistently indicates to upshift at 2000 rpm. Going by the indicator, my car is being driven between 1,000-2500 rpm. Is that ok?

Yes, but as mentioned in manual do not drive on constant spped and RPM.

- I noticed some black dust on wheels. As per some of the other posts, it seems to be due to the disc brakes and nothing to be worried about. Let me know if otherwise

Its normal.

- Sometime engaging the first gear is a problem. This was a problem in my Santro too. When downshifting from 2nd to 1st at low speeds the stick seems to resist the change. What’s the reasons for this and can it be corrected?[/quote]

Downshift only it requires very much, you need to press clutch for more time then it allow you.

Hope I make sense.

@Anuj - It may sound cliched but does your i20 steering rattle?

Thanks Anuj!

My first service is due as the car has done a little under 1,500 kms. Will bring up the issues with the service center guys.

Re: i20 1.2L Asta - It's not cool; it's uber cool!

It's really surprising how some users do not have these rattling issues whereas for some users it has become a real headache. It appears that there has been a batch of cars having this problem. Or maybe a batch of cars which don't have these issues.

I am extremely confused as after having made up my mind on an i20 i ended up reading so much about the rattling issues I almost gave up on it.
