Hi Sathya,

In a mix of City (60%) and Highway (40%), I get a mileage of 15.6 kmpl on my Yeti. If I drive it sensibly , I can get as high as 18-19kmpl - but it is too tempting to drive slow and realistic mileage in 11,400 kms of driving in 10 months is 15.6 kmpl.

i hear from the Skoda dealers in Bangalore that a 2% price hike on the ex showroom price is likely. this means around 35-40K more!
So much for the discount hopes on account of the XUV launch.
However, I guess to bolster their sales they will end up with some Festive season offer or something just to induce consumer purchases in this year.

Yes, I have installed the cruise control, they have made it difficult to get this installed, you need to change the stalk as well as the slip ring which has the electronic modules, and the bummer is you need a WIRE to connect from the slipring to ECU! once the wire is connected, enabling the ECU get the crusie control working, lot of work for a "small feature".

Thanks for the input. (I am not able to get that mileage on my Fabia (pd tdi) which I am planning to upgrade from).

Also on the topic. I am 6'2" and spend 60% of my time on the rear seat. In the showroom it seems an okay fit and comfort.
But I read that the rear ride is a little hard and have a couple of KM of really bad road near my house that I have to cross 4 times a day.

I will be asking for a TD near my house.

Just wanted to see if you have any thoughts on that.

I have never been to the rear seat of Yeti but the ride is not that bad as mentioned, nonetheless you need to do a TD yourself and see, just make sure the tire pressure are "valid" when you are taking the TD, mostly the tires are over inflated and that make the ride hard! Its a nice vehicle and you won't be disappointed.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this strange behaviour of Skoda dealers.

Twice I contacted dealers for a quote on the Yeti. Twice I was quoted a price, in one case verbally in one case in writing. Both times just a few days later (not even a week later and within the same month) the dealers got back saying the company has raised the price.

In the first case the dealer refused to come down from the new price, in the second case (where I had the offer in writing) he said if he had the colour I wanted in stock he would sell it at the old price he had quoted, otherwise he would have to bill me the new price.

I have never experienced this with any other company - prices arbitrarily being hiked practically on a weekly basis.

Leaving aside why Skoda would want to hike its prices at this odd time when everyone else is giving festival discounts, could this be a dealer strategy to counter demand for discounts and/or get a higher price if they think the customer is hooked or is Skoda actually changing its pricing so frequently?

I told the dealer that this raised serious credibility issues.

Anyway, the Yeti is out for me now. :Frustrati Apart from the pricing issue, the family just didn't like the car. We were 5 adults (all fairly slim) and the car felt cramped (more than in the Jazz, which we also TD'd the same day). My sister felt the car was claustrophic. Dad was sitting in the middle of the backseat and had to awkwardly sit astride the very high floor centre divider. We had asked the dealer to get the Elegance model as I had already TD'd the Ambiente and we were potentially willing to shell out the extra cash if everyone liked the car, but surprisingly the Elegance had a smaller feel (purely psychological I know), or maybe it's just that there were less people when I test drove the Ambiente.

In any case, though the car's build quality is quite good and it has some desirable features (and some that are absent), the ride felt hard and the space extremely limited, so the family felt that the car simply didn't justify the price.

I didn't have any arguments to counter that - I mean, the car is overpriced - and coupled with the unsatisfactory dealer experience it just meant end of story.

I think Skoda seriously needs to look into the pricing aspect - both the price of the vehicle per se and also at the dealer end.

That's bad on Skoda and dealer part not sure if dealer or Skoda or both don't want to sale Yeti! They are no way helping a good vehicle sale more or maybe they don't want to sale the current model anymore and would be launching a new lower priced variant soon, who knows.

Nonetheless here is another highway ride and see I am improving on the FE every ride! You can also see the cruise control symbol on the dash board, I have taken this pic on highway when no body was in front and rear and the road was straight as arrow.

Amazing FE! Is the cruise control symbol the one next to the fuel consumption figure or the green one on the right on the speedo?

It's green symbol, its not standard feature, it need to be added, the effort and money involved is not worth, the CC mentioned on the Skoda India Yeti website is for Octavia and it will not work with Yeti, better to stay away from this feature on Indian Yeti, too many parts need to be replaced to get this working with risk of break lots of other things in between.

I consistently get above 16 kmpl in city. In low traffic conditions in mornings when go to drop my son off to his college, I clock 19 kmpl consistently over the 22 km run. One needs to be have elephantine foot never to get more than 11 kmpl.

Yeah getting 19 on highway and 16 in city is very much in reach, now I know what and how, but its quite boring, Yeti is a real hoot to drive, once you do a pedal to metal then it becomes to hard to go back to this 19/16 driving! Its getting real hard for me after I did the pedal to metal 2 days back and ooh what a drive it was, the rush and the way it drives clap:


@007 : I can give you all the part numbers but as I mentioned please figure out who will do it for you, its not plug and play there are lot of "uncomfortable" changes are required one that involves ECU, the ECU are sealed with bolts that are tamper proof and its really tough to get to the socket to have cruise control wire installed! I suggest don't do this, not worth the effort and money.

I know exactly what you mean.

One experiences the the thrill and joys of driving the Yeti by keeping the tacho needle between 1700 and 3500 through most of the driving. It knocks off about 20 - 25% from the FE though. When driving thus, most of my attention is on the road ahead with occasional glance at the rear view - for there is not much that could keep up near the rear. There is little room for me to enjoy the scenery. The Yeti whizzes past most and even when it didn't you'd do well to keep the eyes glued to the road ahead to keep her from bumping into rear of the traffic in front.

On the other hand when I keep the tacho in 1200 - 1900 band, with gentle braking and staid acceleration Yeti rewards me with nearly unbelievable FE. And I can afford to look around and chat in the quite of the cabin.

Hi Pramod,

How has your experience been with the Yeti tyres.. ? Both mine and Sushil's has been quite bad and the tyres are damaged with sidewall cuts. We are looking actively for replacements for the tyres.
Also, I was finding that my AC was not cooling properly and was tripping in low gear - finally got a solution to this issue when I gave it for 1st service recently.

The compressor was changed (new design) and ECU firmware was updated. It has made the AC now almost twice as effective. The Engine scan logs are below for your reference. Do get this update done when you give your Yeti for service.

Behemoth, thanks for the ECU update info, I am sure Skoda Service guys here would not be aware of this and would not update this unless its pushed by Skoda, nonetheless will let them know that this is happening and an update is available with Skoda to solve this problem. My experience with OEM tire are fine, no problem yet and am checking it regularly after Sushil and your incident, do update on any info on alternative to OEM tires.

Sent and email of this regard to the service center with the ECU update version, so they should talk with Skoda India and let me know when this update is available withe them, as I have provided them with version number they should act on this. thanks Behemoth, let hope they get this update ASAP for me!
